Natural Desktop - No Sound

1.5D No Sound

I have recently purchased Natrual Desktop and both on my laptop and desktop, background sounds (such as night, day, etc) do not run.  The install went fine and files will play stand-alone perfectly in say, Winamp.  My laptop and desktop are entirely different computers, both fully updated, no other knows issues with any single program.  I am wondering if anyone knows why this happens, as I have read here and there people have sound issues with various versions of Natrual desktop.  I can say back quite a few months ago when I got my hands on 1.2 to try, the sounds only worked on my desktop.  With this new version, they don't work on either (note, it is NOT muted, the sound is way up, my soundcards (both of them in respective computers) are working perfectly.  The only sound I do get, is while clicking buttons in the program.  Any reports I've read about the sound not working varied, I'm posting this to say, let's get this out in the open and get it fixed, not one single post had ANY answer at all other than "check your volume" and the person was left hanging with pretty much "too bad" as the end answer.

did you install it as a standalone or through SDC?

by not muted do you mean your sound control in the systray or Natural Desktop (right click on the 'circle' button)?

Both are not muted, and it was installed through SDC, and before that through the individual download link that I got from Stardock when I purchased it.

bear in mind, the forum is mainly people like you and me, either asking for help or putting in our 2 cents - have you emailed support or put in a ticket while you're waiting for someone to post and answer?

My ND has no problem with sound - but I haven't changed any default players - I don't know if the script involved for ND specifically calls for wmp or just default player -- you said the sounds play fine "stand-alone perfectly in say, Winamp" - is winamp your default?

Wendi: Sounds like something odd is up with the MP3 player component, then! You could try doing a reinstall with the following procedure:

Go to C:\Windows\System32\ and rename the file l3codeca.acm to l3codeca.bak. Then open Windows Media Player and go to Help>>Check for Updates. This will re-download the decoder and place a new copy on your system.

If that does not do it then go to Start | Run | Type "regsvr32.exe l3codeca.acm"

Have you tried sacrificing a chicken? It can't hurt.

I figured it out, I just defaulted all to MP, switching on Winamp, winamp took back what it plays (mp3, etc) and natural desktop still seems to work!

Edit; Reboot PC after unchecking sound files in Winamp preferences, and sound works now.

Same problem, above not working. New install of ND
