Colony and Troop Modules

I noticed that when I made a troop transport with only one Troop module last night that it maxed at 500 pop. Does this hold true with one Colony module and more importantly can I add more modules with miniturization to increase that amount carried to over 1000?

Colony ships have 2 colony pods, so each has 500k capacity. Doesnt minutarization increase the capacity of the ship not the space of the component? I believe you can put3 colony pods on a 60 size cargo hull if u got the tech.

However I havent mixed a colony pod and advanced troop pods to see if I can colonize with that. It woudl be sweet!

The both the standard colony and troop modules hold 500 (thousand or million, their are referenses to both). The core colony ship appears to have two but I think that is just eye candle. The normal troop module holds 500 and takes 20 units of space. The advanced troop module holds 1000 and only uses 12 units of space. So even without the mini-techs you can get 3000 (thousand or million) troops on one ship and you can combine multiple ships together in a fleet!

Yeah it appears to be just for decoration. You don't really need more than one colony module, with all the rest going to engines and range.

The normal troop module holds 500 and takes 20 units of space.


Yeah, you can usually fit at least two, with good engines and range, or three for a tight fit, with smarmy engines and short range (68 space by the time I usually research invasion)

Also with the more advanced miniaturization techs, it may be possible to fit multiple constructor (size 35) modules into a single hull, making for rapid starbase expansion.

Multiple constructors do not allow for multiple module add-ons on one hull.

You can not colonize with a troop pod or attack with a colony pod.

With miniturization you can increase the number of modules you can place on a hull. Unless you are playing gigantic though the colony rush is probably over by the time you build them.

Large transports come in handy for removing excess population to keep morale up.
