Ship designer bugs

Well I'm sure many of the ship designer bugs have been mentioned already but I thought I'd add my voice. The ship designer and associated features really don't seem to be working very well. I hoped the latest update would resolve some of the issues but I don't think any were. I've also installed the latest (ATI) drivers for my video card, which by the way doesn't seem to be running any hotter than for any other game I play regularly. Oh and I have 1 GB of RAM.
When upgrading or building a ship in the designer, sometimes you'll be happily adding and removing parts but there'll be items in the list that aren't on the 3D ship. When this happens you can't highlight or remove them from the list either. They don't seem to be counting towards the size limit, so my guess would be the ship designer internal list not getting updated properly or something similar.
I was creating a ship just yesterday and through a process of adding and removing parts (don't ask me how it happened or to replicate it because I doubt I could) I was able to create a ship that had a beam attack of 3 without any beam weapons on it whatsoever. The extra beam attack didn't seem to cost any size either. Now I know what you're thinking.... "just clear all the parts and start again!" you say. Well I did just that and ended up with an empty hull that had a beam attack of 3!!!
Now most people would love that but who knows what other problems it would have brought up so I scrapped the design and started over. Thankfully it didn't manifest the second time around (fewer additions and subtractions of parts I suspect).
I could go on about the design where I tried to add Extras to a hardpoint and they either vanished or got added somewhere else instead, or the times when the designer complains that it can't remove a component until I remove one beside it (not attached to it, mind you) .... etc, etc... but you get the picture. Seems to me that the designer needs a bit more work, but until then it's going to continue to be an endless source of frustration for this gamer.
