Suggestions

I have a couple of ideas for things that I'd like to see, maybe for 1.x.

When a new game is started, I'd like a little more customization of the map. Right now, I play with habitable planets on everywhere and a large galaxy. I like having a random map, but a lot of times the random map is just bad. I can't tell you how many times I've quit and started a new game as soon as I started because I'm all by myself in a corner of the map with no star systems in my sector or the surrounding 3 sectors :( . Early on, when your range is small, this is severely inhibiting. On these maps, usually there are a lot of densely clustered systems scattered around the map. Other times, it seems as if there are not a lot of systems either when compared to others. I don't know if each map size has a specified number of planets or star systems. What I suggest, for those of who'd like a little more customization, is the ability to control the number of planets/star systems and the "clustering" of the systems. This way you have situtations where everyone's overloaded with potential systems or your neighbors are really far away. This would also enable different strategies to win, especially if you're going for a influence win. If you're far apart, the positioning of star bases becomes very important, and the potential for the other races to complain about them...

On the star base note, I'd like the ability to see them on the upper right corner map. There's a button to turn on the location of the ships on the map and I'd like to see a button solely for star bases. As it gets later in the game, and there's a lot of star bases, I find myself spending a lot of time trying to figure out where they are and where they are in relation to each other (say if I want to build one in a sector just for influence, not resources). Yes, I know I can find them by looking at the ship list, but again this is time consuming. I think it would be visually easier to see them on the map...

Well, that's it for now, time to get back to playing :D
