Sensor Bug!

Or, how to see everything all the time

Basically when you lose anything that had sensor capabilities for ANY reason, you still retain those sensor capabilities. Take a scout with huge sensors, zip it to the enemy's space, decomission it. POOF, instant permanent monitor of their area, with nothing they can do to get rid of it. Even if they destroy it instead of you decomissioning it, the only difference is you don't get the BC for decom, you still get the permanent sensors. This will also happen if you have a starbase that gets destroyed/decom or a planet that gets taken by the enemy. It's a little cheesy and there is literally *nothing* you can do to keep from 'abusing' this. I'm a little surprised that no one else is posting it, is this something that I've somehow managed to get and isn't happening to everyone? So far I've just played the campaign and it happens to me on every map I've played.

Hrm, it appears that simply editing a post doesn't bump it at the same time. That being said, up up and away!

Is this a problem with my game only, or does no one else want this bug known/fixed?

I haven't seen this exact problem, but I have had trouble with sensors. When I decom a ship, the screen goes foggy as far as I have noticed.

What I get is bases with upgraded sensors havng their sensors shut off. Reloading solves the problem, but then some other base looses its sensors. Its not a major issue, and happens infrequently.

Draknost,
I can confirm this, I will have all these little spots of no fog when fighting the dread lords...

I've seen this...in my current game there are some areas of space that have nothing in them (ships, bases, etc) but I can still see what's going on there. I didn't know what caused it.

I initially thought this was a bug with the 'wormhole' anomoly as the first two times I saw it in action was when my survey ship found a wormhole. However, I realized that it was not just wormholes when I had a mining starbase destroyed and I did not lose the sensors there, either. I had upgraded that one fairly well as it was on my perimeter and I still enjoyed the sights as if I had the base there.

It is a bug I reported a while ago. Your technique is an even bigger exploit than the one I was doing (suicide scouts) as you can preemptively clear the fog everywhere fairly cheaply.
