Combat Viewer - Select your target?
What if the player could select his ship's target?

Hello!
First off, I love this game. I love it so much I'm currently "converting" all my co-workers (which isn't hard - just gotta show them a few screenshots, talk about the awesome things you can do and make 'em try the game and Voila! Another convert!)
At any rate, my idea for space ship battles:
I know stardock once said that it didn't want tactical combat and from how the atual fighting works, I don't think it would be wise anyway (what's the point in moving your ships around if they don't have strong/weak facings and weapon arcs).
However, I do love watching the fleet battles. I just wish I had a bit more control. SO, I wondered what would happen if the player could tell his ships which ennemy ship to target?
Think about it: Right now the computer prioritize the deadliest, easiest to kill ship for both the AI and human side. If the human player could select his target, he would get that extra tactical edge, especially useful in harder difficulties.
Example: Say the ennemy fleet has -one- super vessel, maybe you'd want all your firepower to concentrate on it to weaken it for an eventual easier kill?
Software-wise, I've no idea if it would be possible.
I just thought it would be fun and maybe please all those who are hankering for some sort of control over the tactical battles
