help

  i downloaded the bootskin and when i try to change my skin it tells me to apply now..i do...then it tells me my skin will be applied upon next start up....i reboot then this screen comes up saying some software or program must have caused me to boot..choose how to restart...normally..safe mode...blah blah blah..i dont remember exactly...how do i fix this and what am i doing wrong....? thanks.......
