AI stealing my ship class' names?!

...Eep.

Okay, so I'm going on, enjoying my game on challenging level (despite the fact that I'm losing), and fighting off vishus Iconians around Leto II. Then I see... this...

Look at the name of the ship I've tooltipped. It's called "Windshield 7121!" Weird. I'd designed a ship earlier in the game under the class name of "Windshield," and now the AI has a class by the same name? I've never given any of these ships to the Iconians, and the Iconian version is a small-sized fighter, whereas my Windshield was a medium-sized defender.

...Is the AI allowed to do this? I'd heard it was good... but thieving my name good?

I wish, but what with them invading me and violently conquering my poor, besieged planets...

The computer has always stolen my ship names in these kind of games. Several times in SE 4, the computer would counter one of my ship designs with a ship of the same exact name. It really gets on my nerves. If you are losing as badly as you claim you are, then I suggest toning down the difficulty and blast them back to their stone age!(Or keep the current difficulty, get your butt kicked, and forgive them.)

Have you seen this happen in Gal Civ II, ever? I participated in the Beta, never saw it; nor have I seen anyone else mention it..

Don't worry, I've got some stuff in store for those beastly squid headed-things.

Then what are you doing whining about it? Go teach those scum bags about stealing ship names from you leads to. And by that, I mean giving them the beating of the century. You know, the kind the computer will remember for the next ten games. The next post I read from you better be how badly you kicked their butts.

Hmmm... If you traded the ship to another race, and they traded it to the Iconians...

Again, nope... I've never traded the Windshields, and the ship is definately an Iconian hull. Er, was.

This could happen if you lose a planet right as it's finishing building that ship. i've seen that once where I hurried a build to defend a planet, and they ended up getting my ship & design. Which was bad, because it was in a weak spot of my empire, and now they had a very good ship.

Whats all that stuff in the main window? Were you fighting around a planet with rings or something?

Gallagher: That would make sense. Weird that it should have an Iconian small hull tho. ::shrug::

Sephlock - Yep.

It happened to me as well. I blasted the sucker with a fleet. It was too nasty a toy for them to play with. As mentioned earlier I believe it happened right after one of my planets was captured by the Altarians. We made peace. Then they declared war on me again. Lo and behold I'm being attacked by a Retribution MK 2 (same design, different hull) it was the only one I saw all game.
