Custom Toolbars

Help... I have a toolbar selected that is different from the one I'm seeing.  I've chosen it and also the setting that says to force loading of my choice over the one in the skin.  But in IE, I see not the skin-related one, but the original pre-WB toolbar that was standard XP.

Any advice would be appreciated...

open WB configure...click 'system information' on the left and copy/paste that info here.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

I wouldn't dream of asking for help while still in trial mode...

those dates look more like the trial...some of the dates are old.
did you have trial the 1st?

if so, did you fully uninstall it 1st?

did you download through SDC and register it?

Thanks, Sir B. That may be the problem. I did have trial first, and as per instructions (or what I remember of them) I did "unload WB" before installing over with the purchased version. But I guess that wasn't enough. I will uninstall all the way, and then reinstall. But I have to save all the skins I've amassed within the week...!!

No, I have WB as standalone since I didn't like the subscription concept for utility apps!!! So I never had to deal with SDC. (Sounds like the SGC, if you know what I mean...)

I do have the email for the download so I will use that again to paid copy, but do I have to register it again after that in some fashion?

evrytime you reinstall you have to register/ activate.

I just re-did the whole thing.. unloaded, then uninstalled, re-downloaded from the email link, then fresh install...

the dates reported in Sys Info of WB are the same... so the DLL's supplied in the WB_enhanced file supplied to paying customers is possibly outdated?

I guess I will try to get SDC and update to the interim dot releases that I've heard about here... but didn't people have all sorts of reboot issues with some "beta" versions of WB5?

Please advise....

No issues.

Most of the reboot issues seem to stem from anti-virus. anti-spyware blocking parts of the install. I had no problems use AVG though.

You don't have to install the beta version. If you had no trouble with the trial version then you should have no issues with the full version. Be sure to remove all traces of any previous installs prior to installing through Stardock Central.

If you uninstall all of WB (after saving your skins) - download SDC and run it, go into register - there's a link in the lower right corner - use the drop down to to find WB and put your serial in and register it, then you can download it through SDC and if it works for you then, don't worry about the 'preleases' unless you want to try them out. - As Night Train said, once previous vestiges of the trial are gone, if the trial worked the released version should work - to get the released version through SDC make sure 'show pre release' is unchecked (down at the bottom of SDC) - if all's good and you just want to try the beta out, I suggest you check the 'auto archive' option first.  That way if the beta doesn't work for you, you can uninstall and then restore the archive.

Thanks for the help.  But just for your information, I did all that: uninstalled everything, went through the SDC install, then registered WB5, downloaded and installed.  I did uncheck show pre-release because of the troubles I've heard about the beta here.  So now it reports that I have 5.00.001 installed.  And the system info reports the following:

Which means that I had the latest released version all along. Even when I installed on top of trial.  So, that's not the problem of why I'm not seeing the proper toolbars.  Occam's Razor: maybe it's the skin.

I guess the only thing left to try is the beta since that's the latest builds... more to the bleeding edge we go, hi-ho....

And by the way, if you Apply Changes many times on the same skin (especially these Vista ones) whilst trying out various User Overrides, you can lock up Explorer quite assuredly.  I'm very good with killing it in Task Manager and re-starting now...

But I do appreciate the effort to help sort this out...

After the uninstall, did you reboot?
