Ship designs not deleting

When I delete or obsolete a design, sometimes it still shows up in the "quick" build menu accessed from the main map. Designs from previous games end up in there too, and wont disapear. This gets really annoying trying to sift through a bunch of designs that shouldnt even be there. I also dont like the designs from previous games being available. Its really only a hassle for me, since I just have to delete them, then sometimes they show up again anyway in places I dont want them. As I play more games, its really getting to be a HUGE waste of time, since now more and more designs are showing up. In my current game, I have 10 constructor designs in the quick build menu. I only have one of them thats current, half of them are from different games. They dont show up in the planet build screen, or in the shipyard screen. And I dont know of any way to delete them from the quick build screen.

Is there a file designs are saved in I could delete them from? Or are they all in a big txt file? If I could do that it would make the game more super fun. Thanks

i tried that and it didnt work but then again i didnt shut down my game fully. im redoing the process with Galciv shut down fully. but still... this shouldnt be happening. had the same problem when i was testing the beta. i also would not like to so my old ship designs carrying on to my next game. i often persue different tech rates and want to redesign my ships. the choice should be given or maybe it is and i didnt see it.

I have the same issue and it's starting to detract from the game.
I've found that deleting ship files in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships\ doesn't work if you load a saved game.
It appears that when a save game loads, the ship designs in the save, create config files back into My Docs. (You can tell by the .shipcfg files in all CAPS)

I've also noticed that multiple configs exists for a single ship config and when I open the file they aren't desgins I made/saved???

What drives the creation of the shipcfg file in the Ship Designer? Is there something that creates the files other the Save button?

Is there anyway to delete a design/config from a save file?

Wouldn't that screw things up if you actually had produced some of that design? Maybe it would be better just to have the game not save the designs back into the ships folder.

Agreed...but at this point I just want to salvage this particular saved game....lots of hours invested. I'm looking to delete just the duplicates.

My problem is that when I upgrade a Design, both show, and its pretty annoying. So now I have to look specifically at the each on to find the one I want to build.

Yeah. There needs to be a function to just associate designs for a single save game. I've also had it happen that when I made a new ship with the same name as one from a previous game. Like Laser Frigate Mark 1, which I have used in a couple of games, it can bleed over. One time when I loaded my saved game it had replaced all my verions of that games Laser Frigate Mark X with an older games ship with the same name, which happened to be much more advanced. It had tech I was hundreds of turns away from. It wouldnt go away when I reloaded so I was stuck with super-ships which kind of ruined the game. I couldnt afford to just disband them but using them to easily win felt kind of cheap.

I fixed a bug where the older versions of the ship designs that had the same name were not being deleted, so then if you reloaded the game, they would show up again in the quick build list. It won't fix old save games, but it should help with new ones.

I'll look into the bugs with overwriting obsoleted or unavailable ships.

Just delete ship designs in the GalCiv/Ships folder after each game (unless you really like some, but I like to design new ones each game personally).
