How to reset back to default resolution?

I installed this on my machine and, when in the options, apparently picked a vide resolution that does not work. Meaning I exited GalCiv2 and restarted it to have the changes take effect and all I get is a (mostly) black screen with my desktop visible in a bar down the right hand side. I have to cltr-alt-del and kill it after that. I also tried changing my desktop resolution to several different ones and also tried the "w" on the end of the command to run in a "window". Nothing changed the behaviour of the problem.

I'm hoping there is some simple way to reset the game back its default resolution to see if I can play it again. I couldn't find a config file or anything in the registry that jumped out at me to set it back. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it didn't help either... it goes straight back to the blank screen when I 'launch' the game.

Thanks!

Go to "My Documents/my games/galciv2/" and delete the prefs.ini file. This will reset the game to it's default information (note: all oteher changes you made will be lost as well, unfortunatly) But that's definatly the easiest way to fix your problem.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot. Keep forgetting that saved games and other information may be over there nowadays.

Well, *that* was interesting. If first tried editing the prefs file to change the rez back to what I needed it to be. The game did start this time - but the display (and the mouse movements) were rotated 90 degress counter-clockwise!

I deleted the file instead and all is well in the Universe again.
