Yahoo Messenger, GONE< KA_PUTT..HELP

Ok, after running amuck through some of these posts, I now relize as a beginner I am most NOT likely to understand of the heavier mumbo jumbo.  But I am willing to giv it it a go, so here goes....


downloaded trial version of windows blinds a few months back.  After running into no stop problems I just let the program sit there in my display properties until I had the gutz to go back and play.  WELL today was it!, OH my I just love all the things I COULD do, (notice the word COULD).  Mann I thought I had it going on too! NEw theme, new skin, I was looking good, BUT then I couldnt tell NO BODY how Super KOOL this was , cauz My messsenger would not pull up aT ALL! Bummer...  The programs was even gone from Control panel programs.  I went to all the trouble and let me add TIME< ok, ok my fault, little out dated here, but i have to say that DAIL UP word, along with that came a 50 minute downloaD.  Only 2 relize once I went back to default in display, did my little old smoken smiley yahoo friend re-appeared. 


SO any IDEAS OUT THere!  any settings I can change to get my skin and yahoo buddy back n the saddle together again? sorta speak?


Was not only the one skin , the aquarium, but any of them I tried.

OMG! You are SUCH THE MAN! & so on the Ball! I believe it is too, I cannot wait to play now. All the new looks, when I first downloaded the program I was afraid to play, but since then I have learned alot more on how to do the simple "fix its", makes me feel brave now, more like "I AM THE WOMAN THING". I am so excited, almost like when I changed over from cassettes to CD's! like 3 months ago... Kidding could have been 4.


Too bad Dancing with the stars finale is tonight,are you a fan? I would hate all that confidence be thrown out when I screw up something and couldn't post on the message boards

1 fast question, whats with the "Citizen" thing in front of brightsider? Would that be something I did? like a typo?

This is a registered user. 99% of users are going to be Citizens. A citizen is a member of the community. They can submit skins, download and talk on the message board. Citizens can modify their preferences to display skins of any rating or above. The honorific "Citizen" is appended in front of their name.

aimzzz, hello u there?


Ok I am in select application, I have yahoo messenger in the "look in" now from which of the like 10 folders in there would I apply the new settings too?  In there are cache, data,ext, pager, view, profiles and so on.  I tried some of them but none would stick into the file name.  One did, then it popped another screen for "total exclusion", is that want I need to do?  Then does need to show up in the first box, after clicking into "per application", even under hidden exclusions Yahoo still does show in there, I guess this means I am still not doing what I need to be, right?  Also I am taking it since I have to go through this per application with the messenger, would it right to say I may have to this with every other that might cauz any problems?  That would be the smart thing to do, to avoid problems?  or no?  Reason for asking spades room in yahoo are sometimes quirky enuf, would I need to add the games part to that exclusion as well?


Do I need to go back into that link you sent me and ask the questions from there? Since the problem was the same?  or Can I stay in here, and get your help?  You may not want to think about that b4 answering   you may end up sorry for taking me on;)

Ok wait, wait, I just typed in "yahoo.exc", thinking to exclude yahoo all together from skins, since they don't play nice.  It did come up in the list, of "per application", but sad to say, did not fix the messenger from just sorta bleeping in when trying to open it then bleeping out just as fast.

exc or exe? makes a difference

easiest way would be to use the drop down to go into the yahoo folder and click on the exe or exe(s) if there is more than one (I don't yahoo so I don't know)

have yahoo closed down first.

once you have yahoo.exe added don't forget to click 'apply changes' in WB configure, then close WB configure, then reopen yahoo.

Ok I tried just Excluding ANYthing with yahoo on it, adding it to the list of advanced confirguration, applied changes, then closing.  I even did the shortcuts, which I use, still when clicked on in the quick launch or in the program files, when clicking open I get a flash of where the screen should be then gone, then in the icon tray my little face comes up white, (will turn yellow when active) then just bleeps out.  I found out I am still on 3.5 version, of the shareware.  Like I said I downloaded along time ago, but because of the bugs, I was still leary of purchase. Even this these last few days when trying to get this fixed I have encountered more freeze's and restarts  EVER.  Makes me remember now, it was the problem with this yahoo thing.  I am committed spades league player and yahoo is a must.  I also looked for an upgrade to the 5 version of WB, I did not see an upgrade, only from a purchased copy.  Would you think may I need to upgrade?  Would I just download the 5, over the top of this, or unload the old first?

close everything yahoo

unexclude everything. apply changes. re exclude only the yahoo.exe = pick the first option in the window that pops up 'total exclusion, ingore this app and do not skin it' - apply changes - reapply your skin - open yahoo = sometimes it works better after a restart

if there are other yahoo programs in the yahoo folder that also have .exe on them, exclude them too if need be.

I did not see an upgrade

there are no upgrades on trial versions. if you wish to try WB5...move your skins to another folder, uninstall the version you have and put it somewhere...then try 5...the exclusion may work better (2 full versions better) plus you get the see the cool skins.

OK, ok I did download the WB5 throughout the night, decided not to click run yet this morning until I checked back here first. Probally wise to suck down some more caffiene b4 I get started, with all this good advice.
And you are right it was more then a few months , what can I say, " I fell down and couln't get up again". BUT on the brightside,(hahah get it?) worked out very well, gave'em enuf time to get better

Exactly what is a troll? They still the same thing as back in the 70's?, the furry things?

OH one other thing, when un installing the old WB3.5, where exactly might that be? It is not in ther on my list on installed programs. Shall look again in the containing folder? I guess I wouldnt really have to worry about un installing if the new one works good for me, right? The 2 together would not like fight with each other, right? If they play nice together, and giv me no more headache's, I could go for the gusto, and the purchase

Well scatch those uninstall questions.  Clicked on the run button and got the instructions, for "unloading" before install.  AS I was setting back to the XP theme, I somehow lost the install one!  


Sceaming now, but going back to download another
