Photoshop Question

Well, I finally got a new computer that can support ODNT. So I got that yesterday and dusted off my old copy of PS7.

What I want to know, before I go out and get the latest version of PS, is do I really need it right now? How much has changed in the last few releases? Are the changes worth the money yet, or should I wait a while and see what comes next? I haven't done much reading on it yet cause I wanted to see what people who are actually using it right now think.

It depends what you use the program for is my answer. There are improvements to brush functions. There is a new vanishing point tool and a Bridge application that enhances work flow with other Adobe apps and your picture files. It has new team workflow functionality with Cue 2. I am using Creative Suite 2.

Hey Sylva.
Nice to read you again. Im glad you got a new PC and that you are opening you PS again. This can only mean that we'll be seen some great work from you again. Perhaps another community project
As far as the new version of PS goes, I really didn't find much of an impresive improvement on it. I gave it a 'test drive' on my friend's PC and I can honestly say that I rather keep my PS7 version for now.
Other than the curve text path and a couple of other feautures, there is not much on it to justify wasting your money on this upgrade. I think there is a trial version available if you want to see for your self.
Oh... it does takes a lot longer to load up than the previous versions.

Now here a name I haven't seen in a while.  Hi Donna, was just talking about you the other day.  Are you going to start skinning again?  Hope so.

PS7 is definately capable of producing good work. CS2 has some great new features, butnot everyone would use them. Take a look at what's new in CS2, and see if it's something you need. If you use Illustrator, you should definately upgrade to CS2. There are some great tools in Illustrator. Once you start using it and get to know it, you'll see how much better it is than Photoshop.

Quick note:

With Vista around the corner, you may want to wait and see if there is a new version released for any or all of the Adobe products for that OS - if you are going to use Vista.

Thanks guys.
Apocolypse67 and WOM, yeah, I'm hoping to start again. But after almost 3 years I don't know if anything I do will be worth looking at. I need to relearn everything again. And I really do mean _everything_!
