Ship Hauls

GalCiv2 is a great game. But i was just wondering... is there a program that lets you design your own ship hauls?

I assume you mean hulls. In which case you'll need 3d modeling software with a DirecX exporter, and the talent to design and texture a new hull.

Oh and if there isn't another way how would i import the hulls into the game?

There isn't any other way really--even if you could find a stock model already in X format, you need to add hardpoints to it to make it usable (and that's either an exercise in insanity trying to manually edit them in the X file, or you get the original model and modify it in a 3d modelling program).

Once you have a X model with appropriate texture and hardpoints though, it's very simple to make it usable in-game. Just add an entry to GC2Types.xml, I believe. You can just copy an existing hull entry and change the model name, thumbnail, and description.

Um..... ok thats all a little confusing but do you have any idea how to add hardpoints?

We will be posting Ship Design Docs as soon as posible. If you have 3D studio or Maya you should be able to create your own hulls. There are a few things you need to know, to get the Custom ship colors and hardpoints in, but it is all pritty strate forward.
