Custom portraits for custom races.

I tried just sizing up a picture and putting it in the gfx/races folder under the .png format, but it doesn't show up in game. Does anybody know how to make custom portriats?

Because race is more than just the image (ie is also bik files for the animations etc) Im guessing the image numbers may be hard coded to match the animations which is why they wont show up. Id also like to add in a custom image for me leader, maybe we can get something like this added in a future update (a "load custom potrait" button or something). Minor thing but would be nice

I would love to use that squirrel the devs used in the game examples. It is so darn funny!

In a bit, you will be able to dump png files in your my documents/my games/galciv2/ logos and portraits folder. There will be an update soon where they add that functionality. Till then you can go to the games directory and find the folder with all the race photos. Drop png files for your logo and race in there and name it the same way they did, using a different number (I used 99). Remember that the png files need to be 256x256 pixels for race and 128x128 for logo. GL

You mean Snarky?  I believe that he is actually a minor race....and he's really mean!

I can confirm that the evil squirrels really do exist in the game as a minor race.

Eric, it should work now if you put the images in the My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ logos and portraits folders.

Just wanted to say thanks to Stardock for making that really cool "custom race" icon available as your race picture, even if you never see it in game. Maybe if there's multiplayer it would be more important.
