Yea cuz Steam has such a great reputation.

Then you could download slow AND wait 4 hours for it to validate. Nice.

Did you read this? https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=274&AID=101795

Wait a minute. Youre saying that you ordered the game for digital download on launch day, within hours of release, and its takign a while to download at the same time everyone and their sister is trying to download it? Thats just crazy talk mister.

I dont know about an alternative site, but I know if you're going to sell digital downloads you better offer better than 10k/s download speeds. I skipped stopping at the store on the way home because I thought a DL would be much more convenient. At this pace the store would have been MUCH faster.

Stardock: You should have partnered with someone who has a good history of delivery. This is unacceptable.

What happened to the DOWNLOAD WOES thread stardock posted last week in anticipation to EXACTLY these posts?

Threads like this make me think they should limit digital preorders to people that understand bandwidth limitations past "my cable lets me download 6 mbits a sec!"

alas.

The steam reference got me rolling on the floor though.

Cheers!

Even Steam was extremely slow on launch day.

Anyone that pre-ordered Gal Civ II has had a week now to pre-load all but a small 6 meg file.

I think they have done great at launch, and in the next 12 hours or so the servers will be up to speed as the rush will be over.

We have rearranged things on the California and -4 server options in Stardock Central to try and redirect the full installs to faster servers. Please try those.

We had a bit of an ISP hiccup a few hours ago, but that should be settled now.
