title bar gone missing?

I'm curious...it seems to me, if memory serves, that before I installed WindowBlinds, when I opened an application--such as WordPerfect or CorelDraw or Mozilla--that the title bar displayed the name of the application and in some cases the name of the file being opened.

All the skins I've tried fail to display the name of the app or the name of the file.

Naturally I know what application I'm opening but sometimes such as with PhotoPaint, it's nice to know the name of a file you're working on (especially when you have several photos that look similar).

Is this a bug or a "feature" or is it just something we have to live with?

Do not see that problem here. The title bar displays the name of the application and the document in Word and the program name and site in FireFox using WindowBlinds 5. Could you post the "System Information" from WindowBlinds configuration screen.

Hankers,

Here is the system info:

WindowBlinds 5.0 System Information Report:

STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+ TRAY+

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

You have one monitor in total.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

Wblind.dll 2005/11/28 12:01:54
Wbsrv.dll 2005/11/28 11:50:22
Wbconfig.exe 2005/11/28 15:45:06
Wbload.exe 2005/11/25 19:30:58
Wbhelp.dll 2004/09/18 15:37:00
Wbui.dll 2005/11/26 18:09:46
Tray.dll 2005/11/02 13:28:26

I might add that I am running the trial version of WB if that makes any differnce.

Also what is hyperpaint and whgat does it do?

Well, I take it back...only copper_deck_2_wb5 is missing its title bar text. All the others that come with WB in the trial version show properly but I really like copperdeck2.

Just hazarding a guess here but if you're using the trial WB5 it won't support per-pixel drawing on other skins not included with the trial....perhaps that's where the issue lies...

Jafo,

Thanks for the input. I don't think that's the problem, though. I DL'd a copy of Pixtudio and installed it in WB and it works fine...as does Gizmo and MX5.

Copper_Deck_2_WB5 shows in the WindowBlinds preview screen as having text on the title bar...but not in action.

I like CopperDeck, it could be one of my all time favourites...sad that it's not working correctly...at least for me. I wonder if anyone else is having this same problem? I guess that kind of "tech" skin isn't that popular anymore. I fooled with Litestep years ago and a lot of the skins were in that style. I guess that's where I get my taste in skin.

Try another wb5 only skin . . see if the results are similar.

Then you'l know it's a trial version issue.

Zubaz,

Great idea!

So...I DL'd treetog's Artwork (CopperDeck is one of his too) and installed it. Works fine. Looks good! Makes me wish CopperDeck worked like that!

I believe the per pixel version of copperdeck has a bug where the non per pixel frames have no text visible.

As the trial will only use the per pixel frames for the included per pixel skins, the non per pixel frames are being used for that skin.  The preview will show the per pixel frames though which is why the text is visible in the preview.

Neil,

Thank you fo rthe response. I fell a little better now about WB and about Copperdeck even if it does have a bug. So, presumably, if I buy WB, copperdeck will work correctly?

Let me ask you two quick questions while I have your attention, please...

The "free" versions of Cursor XP and ThemeManager don't seem to have a time limits. I know Cursor XP has "enhanced" features, but it does what I want it to do. Thememanager, on the other hand, seems critical to take advantage of suites. Is there any downside to using either one of these apps?

Finally, if I buy the entire ObjectDesktop, can I selectively install components? I've already had problems with BootSkin...

I have used both with no issues.

Two answers here. Bootskin is not part of ODNT. It's unsupported because it's flakey.

And each of the componants can be installed and run seperatly.

yes you can

don't know of any downside to theme manager free - i have the odnt package
used cursorxp free for quite a while - then got plus - sometimes someone will upload a huge cursor and you can resize in plus - - cursorxp plus has more customization options than free
