Galciv 2 Preload activation issues?

Hi all.

I prebought the dl version of galciv2. I'm not a huge user of stardock central so I don't know if I am supposed to 'activate' the preload, or wait till the release date.

The reason I'm writing is that when I do try and activate, I get a warning saying it failed because I have products registered under different emails and that I need to contact support to get my account merged.

I have done so, but the auto email I got back says that it will take around 4 business days to fix - checking the link they sent me shows I've been assigned a 'low priority'.

It's been about 2 business days so 2 more to go - I think, timezone differences and all.

So I guess my question is, will I be able to play the game on the release date if I can't activate? Have I done someting wrong, or do I just sit tight and wait for support to get back to me.

I have the same issue, although I did change my emails to one singe address before buying GalCiv2 I still get this error.

I guess your lucky since I did not even get that auto email you wrote about. But Iam confident the game will work on 21th even without this activation thing. They did say that things will be working even with different emails didin“t they? I pray to god Iam right

Lol, as I wrote this message I recieved a email , yep it was the auto email you were talking about

The message in SDC, when I got it, did say that things would be fine for now, but that at some point "in the future" it would be necessary to merge e-mail addresses.

Beyond that, I'm not going to worry until I have an actually runnable game tomorrow afternoon. If it doesn't work then, I'll figure out what's wrong.

jc3k, did you use the Stardock Central feature to get an email with the serials of all games you own? Maybe this will show you the right thing to enter in the SDC configuration.

Also you can try and get support from IRC (irc.stardock.com) channels #stardock or #galciv, would be a place to look. SDC has a chat feature which is IRC. Happy hunting.

I remember long ago I had same issue and was able to update email addresses on a webpage at stardock.com but the exact url slips my mind. Sorry not much help there. Well good luck.

The same error is affecting me, though Stardock support asked if I wanted to merge email address data. I'll just see how it goes on release day. It's just a temporary serial number anyways, since I bought the boxed version.

Thanks for the replies people. It makes me feel better it's not an isolated thing.

I did that as well.

Yes I tried that.

I had a look in there. But everyone seems to be idle whenever I look. It might be a timezone thing. I'll try in the morning before I go to work.

Thanks again everyone.

I had one of our managers meet with the tech support team with various threats of violence if they don't make sure people are taken care of immediately on anything like that.

It's not an isolated thing. It's a small percentage and it's easy to resolve but essentially people with two different email accounts in teh system will need to merge their accounts and the easiest way to do that is via support.

jc3k, you have 2 accounts under the same email. I've merged them down and you should be all set. Right-click on the game in Stardock Central and select the Activate w/logging option. If you're still having trouble, email the .\sdcentral\activate.log to kwilas@stardock.com. And reference this thread.

Crustacean, your records (per friday) were under 2 different emails. I've merged them down into the one we discussed in email.

sam0t and Asharak, you both had 2 accounts under the same email address. They've been merged down. Problems, please email kwilas@stardock.com.

Great customer care! The activation worked flawlesly. Now the only problem is how to spend these ~11 hours untill the release

Thank you. I just activated and it works now.

I wonder now if my game has been activated, I have 2 accounts with the same email address just a different password.
If I don't see the activation option in SC, does that means I'm good?
I have some "purchased" software like iconPackager... But I didn't bought them, maybe it's coming from the Alienware theme I'm using or is it a bonus coming with the game? I can't activate them, when I try, I get the 2 different email problem box coming.

I've got the same situation with two emails against my account, which caused me to get an error with activation when my GalCiv2 download finished this morning.

I've got GalCiv1 registered against my Hotmail address, which is what I used to login to SDC, and my Gmail address against GalCiv2.

Would it be possible for someone to merge both sets of details into my Gmail address, please?

Thanks,

David

PS Thanks for the great support, it's been fantastic to see how much Brad has participated in threads at Octopus Overlords and Quarter to Three.

Indeed. I've said it there, but I'll say it here as well: thanks Brad (and everyone else at Stardock).
