Primary freezes/locks mouse

Hello. I'm trying Mulitplicity and having a problem. I've setup my desktop as primary, laptop as secondary, rebooted both machines, and Multiplicity sees the connection; the icon in the taskbar is colored. When I scroll over to my laptop to my right, I loose control of the mouse. It won't move the cursor on either machine. The window pops up saying it's connected to the laptop, but I can't control the mouse on the laptop and I can't gain mouse control back on my desktop. Control via keyboard of my desktop becomes real slow, and I have to reboot the computer. Any thoughts? I would love to use this utility if it worked for me. Thanks.

How are they connected, wired network, wireless, firewire
Does the mouse on the secondary move at all or does is go all will-nilly?
Switch the primary/secondary. What happens then?
What version?

It sounds like the secondary does not have Multiplicity fully installed correctly.

If you use the troubleshooting option on the secondary machine (option from system tray icon), what does it say?

im experincing similar with wong but i set my switchin with my 4/5 mouse button. the status box comes up saying im controllin the 2nd comp but im not controlling anything so i press my mouse 5 button and gain control of my primary again. so when i run the troubleshooting on my 2nd comp theres 2 things wrong, 1.multiplicity winlogon dll is not running, 2. winlogon dll has failed testing. how can i fix this problem?

If winlogon dll is not running then it may be installation of it was prevented by something on your PC.

Do you have any antispyware apps on your PC which may be 'protecting' the registry?

the only antispyware app on my 2nd comp would be ad-aware but that shouldnt be it since i have that on my main comp.

I'm seeing the same thing. Uninstalled and reinstalled in safe mode . . . no love.

Is there debug info we can send?

I, too am having this error.

My primary machine is win 2k.  I have two laptops...one xp the other is 2k.  It is the xp secondary machine is the one that gives me the winlogon dll is not running error.  I can use the win 2k laptop just fine.

Here is the really weird part.  If i turn off my main machine so it is out of the picture....I can make the xp laptop that doesn't work as a secondary work as the primary and contol the other xp laptop.

I am wodering if this issue has anything to do with a win2k machine controlling an xp one?????

I hope someone has some ideas.  I emailed support 5 days ago....no response yet.  I even sent a follow up this morning.

If you lose control of the mouse when switching to the secondary pc then the winlogon dll is not functioning on the secondary machine.

Please also ensure all the machines are running the same version of MP.  Mixing versions will not work.

A 2000 machine should be able to support controlling an XP client just fine.  Your problem is a core bit of MP is not working on that XP laptop which means MP cannot pass mouse messages onto the secondary machine.

I will check the support queue for a message from you.

I cannot see anything in the main support queue.  What e-mail address did you use & what subject?

I am experiencing the same problem on 1.05. Some clients work (even if failing one or both of the troubleshooting dll tests) and some clients don't work (moving my mouse over will lock the mouse and keyboard). Some clients are 64-bit, some are 32, all are XP pro. I haven't found what makes it not work on certain systems yet.

You can easily recover by assigning a hot-key to your primary display.
