Latest release of WindowFX

Some transitions not working correctly.

Just installed the latest version today. Window dragging FX is not working either. My puter is just 3 months old and it's a Dell XPS with a great graphics card and 2Gig of mem so I figured it would be able to handle WindowFX with no problem.

Anyone else having problems?

Yes, when using a WB 5 skin the only drag fx that works is semi transparent. It does not make window transparent but does allow you to drag window. For WB 4 skins all drag fx work fine.

Well I thought this new release was supposed to work with WB5. (I thought I read that here at WC)

Um... A little input... Stardock.

This is the Stardock support forum.

The first WFX 3 beta did not support WB 5 per pixel windows for dragging animations, but the new one put up on thursday I think does.

Hey Neil, WFX 2.89a[b].002, only drag fx that can be used is semi transparent. The others try to work but are very slow and choppy, have to unload WFX to gain control, when unload WFX the window that was trying to drag disappears, have to close it from taskbar.

It may be your graphics hardware isn't up to the task then.  Are min / restore animations also choppy for you with a WB per pixel skin?

Hey Neil, everything else for WFX works great, min/restore animations,open/close window animations, menu animations, transparent task and menus. My video card is ATI Radeon 9200 SE. In performance advice WFX, constant and per pixel alpha blending are accelerated by my installed drivers. I do have the drivers off install disc for my card installed as the newer ATI drivers do not support the 9200 cards, only drivers for full functioning WB 5 that I have found.

I'm using WFX 2.89a(b).002 and the window dragging effects work sort of. After the update I tried transparency, no go, and then the one that cuts the window into rectangles and spins them. Drug it a few inches and it sat there spinning and wouldn't stop. FX wouldn't unload through itself or task manager. Wouldn't restart through task manager either, everything else was frozen. Had to do a hard re-boot. BFG NVidia GeForce 5500 256MG OC PCI. According to performance advice everything should work. Everything else seems to work, including system settings, which wasn't working in the first release.

Wow, I guess Stardock doesn't care about customer support.

These forums are not Stardock Support (ignoring the forum title).  Official support is obtained via support@stardock.com

The latest beta release of WindowFX supports all the drag animations with WB5 skins (apart from basic semi trans).  If they are not working with the latest version then please let us know what graphics card you have.

10-4 Neil. Hmm... maybe Wincustomize should change the name of this forum.

Well, aparently you answered my main question Neil. Latest Win FX doesn't work with skins that have semi transparent elements. Because any time I run both not only is dragging not working properly but also transitions and and menu animations act weird. And I even updated my GFX card drivers since I started this post.

But as you said this is not Stardock Support.
So next time I'll contact them directly.

Sheesh... Websites...

You have misread what I have written.

The latest beta DOES support WB5 skins with per pixel.  Only the simple transparent dragging option is not supported with per pixel skins.  All the fancy animations etc are supported with WB5 per pixel skins.

Not on my box.

All of the window dragging effects work perfectly on non per pixel skins. If I use any of them with a per pixel skin the window locks on the effect and will not stop, just sits there spinning or wiggling or whatever the effect is. Are we the only ones having problems with per pixel skins? If so I guess I can live without them.

Hey Neil, I have been playing with WFX and think it may be that my video card is not up to the task. ATI Radeon 9200SE, I think this because I am having some issues with some drag fxs with WB 4 skins, slow to start animation and when move leaves the window frame opposite to move direction where window started.
It seems, from forums, that the 9200 series is about bottom end card for WB 5, WB 5 and WFX together may be to much for it.
If you agree that this may be the case what should I look at to upgrade too for ATI card.
