Question on ship battles

Does the computer tell you how the battle went like a play-by-play, or a commentary on how you won or lost?

Assuming you turned on the full battles for all battles option.

You see the battle blow by blow and you also see a summary screen at the end. If you have battles disabled then you simply see a 'ship X desroyed by ship Y' message in the news report.
