All of the Bootskin applications from Stardock don't work on my AMD Athlon 3200

Any other AMD Athlon owners encounter problems?

I have an AMD Athlon 3200 and I am running Windows XP Home on it. I have tried all 3 of the Botskin applications and each one gives me a problematic result. Bootskin 1.02 and Bootskin 1.03 end up causing the computer to display a black screen that hangs for a long time and the newest one makes the computer to reboot to the "boot up" option screen. All the other Stardock applications work except Bootskin. I read the warning on the Bootskin download page where it says the newest one may not work with some computers. I atleast expected the oldest version or the 2nd oldest to work.

Don't think it has anything to do with your processor and everything to do with your mobo. From past discussions I've seen Bootskin is very dependent on certain functionality being available in the video sub-system provided by your BIOS. If your mobo does not provide the needed functions it simply will not work. Not really anything that can be done about it unless you feel like replacing your mobo.

I forgot to mention that my sister's friend had installed Windows XP Pro when he built it in September. Since then I made a colossal mistake on Superbowl Sunday and I had to go and buy a copy of Windows myself. I chose the cheaper version, Windows XP Home, and since I had installed it on the Monday after Superbowl Sunday Bootskin will just preview not work on reboot. Any Ideas?

One of the reasons Bootskin is unsupported is because it's really fickle about what it runs on and what it doesn't. You can try earlier versions. That might help.

Sorry for the double post. This is a good time to reflect back on your lost youth and wonder . .."Where the hell did I put my youth?"
