Hi there!

I ordered from the play.com aswell and I doubt they will have Collectors Edition. Paradox is handling the release here in Europe and I hope they put some extra stuff into pre-ordered games, but it most definetly won´t be THE Collectors Edition that we see on this website.

My main consern is not if it is a collectors edition, but what kinda key they give to european pre-orderers. I would hate to miss all the pre-ordere bonus packs etc, just because I didin´t pre-order from US but from UK.

I have also just pre-order via play.com and was concerned by the same thing... Hmmmm I went to paradox interactive's website and it is crap for information regarding anything. Personally I think that is a sign of a very poor publisher.

Thanks for the feedback, I really hope that we can find out as I really would like all the extras like those extra componeents for the ships and such.

So can anyone confirm that Play.com is supplying the standard or Collectors edition of the game?

I can't find any email address on play.com to ask about the box set!? How annoying, I've emailed Paradox to ask which version of the game they are supplying to Play.com

Hopefully I'll get a reply sometime this century.

Hi Jon,

The answer to your question is neither nor. The European Version of the game
comes in a Steelbook (=a metal case in DVD case size). There are no
different boxes to begin with at release, but depending on the how fast the
limited edition Steelbooks will sell out we will be reprinting the game in
normal DVD cases.

Well, seems I made the right choice when I preordered directly from Stardock - I may have to pay custom taxes but at least I get the real deal...

If you can't confirm that play.com carries the Collectors Edition, why don't you cancel the order there and preorder at Stardock?

Because it is £17.99 with free delivery from play.com while buying it overseas will cost $45 + VAT (17.5%) + Delivery ($5-10) + Customs Tax (?%), making that one very expensive game.

Dang it! That really sucks, As much as i want the special edition 30quid extra is alot more just for the extras.

Shame there is no way that anyone from Stardock could let us somehow gain access to the extras (downloads, and printouts for the Tech tree) if we provided proof of purchase and pre-order etc...

Ah well.

Play are pretty good place to buy from though.

Final words to this thread.

I got the package from play.com.

It was the "Limited Edition Tin Box" including the research poster and the ability to get the Collectors Edition Downloads.

To do so I had to convert the Paradox serial in a Stardock serial. The link can be found on the Paradox forum.

And I did not need to pay custom duty in Germany. But this is not guaranteed.

Overall it was a very good deal for me.

I got my copy as well from play.com and I dare to say the steelbox looks even nicer then the US release of the game.

Besides we got all the collector edition items.

One advice: Use Stardock central to register and update your game. It works like a charm
