How many of you with both DL & DA still play DL?

I play both and while it is a matter of taste, DA adds a bunch of stuff which sometimes
I like and sometimes I don't like. On a huge map, DA for me tends to give a longer game, my space ships are slower and more expensive. The new planet types--some days I like them, some days, not.

DA badly needs a Galactopedia or something to make improvements more transparent. I don't think the current Galactopedia will work on DA although I have heard people say otherwise.

In DA, it seems that all improvements make things more expensive. I think with research and miniturization some things should become cheaper (maybe older things or with minitizuration).

I only recently got bored with DL so i bought DA but naturally stupid stardock central said my serial codes were invalid. I just got fed up at that point, and havn't gotten round to putting in a support request as yet. But that's ok because i bought that new rise of nations expansion, so it should keep me busy for a while.

I have both DL and DA. Only purchased DA a little while ago, and jumped right in just to get a feel for it. But in all honesty, I am still getting a lot out of DL and like playing it only because it is so familiar to me now. There is still a lot of replay value in DL for me, and I'm experimenting with all the different races, victory options, levels, map sizes, strategies, etc.,etc.

I know I seem slow getting around to trying all these variations, but my schedule only permits a certain amount of gaming time per week. Certainly some have played DL to death and moved on to DA for all that the expansion has to offer. I'll get there eventually, but before I move on I want to be sure that I've thoroughly explored all that DL has to offer.

I only play DA now that I have it. I like the extras, such as the different planet types and the race abilities, and I guess I would find it confusing to go back and forth, and would miss the new aspects of the game.

Would you miss the new espionage aspects too?

I Like alot of the stuff in DA. But I wish it was still beta, so I could choose which Espionage type to use. Ive had some really good games go to crap because of it.

When an expansion comes out for anything, its almost usless to play with out it. I start missing the new things they threw in it.

I had preordered DA a couple of weeks after they opened ordering and spent a lot of time playing the betas. When it actually came out though I found myself playing more DL and still am. I like DA, I'm just not through with DL yet and won't be till I beat suicidal(current game is on obscene so I'm getting close   ). Even then I won't be playing DA exclusively. I love the colony rush. The longer the better and DA just hampered that part of the game for me. The Epic Generator being cut was another big blow for me as it was the feature I was looking forward to most. I'll get into DA one day, but it will probably always play second fiddle to my first TBS love, DL.

I bought the Gold Edition, so I have both. So far, I've only played DL. I started out thinking that I'd play DL for a while and then move on to DA when I got bored with DL. A value for money thing. Getting bored hasn't happened yet.

Once I logged on to Stardock and these forums, I was not so pleasantly surprised to see that DA was still in Beta. That being the case, I consider it unfinished, so I'll continue to play DL until DA comes out of Beta. The game appears to be undergoing major changes during the Beta Test process, so it appears to be more than a bug fix/minor tweak thing. (Yeah, I know. It's a 1.5 vs 1.6 thing, but in my mind, DL is DL and DA is DA.)

When DA had the performance bug, I played DL. Now that it's fixed I play DA now....mostly because of Custom opponents and the new ship combat.

DA itself is not by any means a beta. There was a public beta of the 1.6 patch, so people could try out the changes as they were made and see if they resolved whatever issues they had, but that's far from making the game itself a beta. If you don't want to be involved with the patch betas, simply play the latest patch that's released as 'final' (which 1.6 now is, and 1.5 has been since February).

I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing that up for me, kryo. I assumed from reading many of the posts here that major parts of the game were being changed with the patches. New major features, rules changed to prevent or hinder whatnot, etc. Fundamental changes in gameplay like that. I'm glad to hear that it's not happening.

Eh... This is honestly a filler game until Spore or Starcraft 2 come out. Not to worry, though, 10 millenia to go.

((For those of you who don't know, Spore is just like this... except... 100,000,000 times better. Eh. Google it, won't hurt.)) =P

But, oh yeah. I like DA better.
