What We Now Know About LH

Based on Frogboy's latest post as well as the original posts (including the FAQ), here is what we know about LH:

1. The beta may start this week.

2. The hero recuitment system will change from them being placed on the map to the heroes approaching you based on fame.  A few will be the result of quests.

3. The champion progression system will change.

4. Shadow effects have been implemented.

5. New tactical combat options:  swarm, closer initial placement.

6. New monster types.  Two:  Banshee and Garagox were mentioned.

7. New spells and abilities.   Wall of fire, Raise skeletal horde, wraith touch, rush were all mentioned.

8. A new scenario.

9. Other graphics changes (in addition to shadow effects).

10. Non human champions.

Two questions:

A. Other players, what did I miss in the above?

B. Stardock, are there other changes you could tell us about in LH while we wait?

Prestige is gone, growth is based on potential population, unrest increases with number of cities.

The 30 population cost for Pioneers returns.

Growth is based on excess food production.

Influence is gone.

It's got that thing on the movement showing how many turns it will take to get to a square.

It's going to have crossbows.  I think from memory they said they'd go through multiple enemies.

The 3 damage types (cutting, blunt, piercing) are scrapped.

Weapons have abilities, spear can damage a unit behind the adjacent unit.  There is a Cleave ability that hits multiple opponents, I think.

It's going to be Steam only.

Thanks.    I can see that I left out a number of features that have already been announced.   Overall it looks like LH has the potential to be a lot of fun.

Now if I could just get someone from Stardock to answer questions B.................

End of xaltotun's quote

While your waiting for that I'm still waiting to see when we all can sail the seas of cheese (naval combat for the non primus generation).
