Getting booted from games is always annoying.

It always bothers me when I wait 20+ mins to start a decent game, and then someone says "hey, my friend is on, let him in."  Then I get booted.

If I'm unwelcome in a game, please tell me imediately and I will happily leave.  If you allow me to stick around, I expect to be able to stick around.

Thanks.

The problem is that people always prefer to play with guys that they know and trust, so as not to waste 1-2hours on a game ruined/left by a stranger. It's just a risk you'll have to take until you get to know some people and bond with them.

It is unfortunate that this does happen quite a bit.  Azrak pretty much summed up the reasoning behind it.  A lot of times it is better to have someone you can at least depend on a bit to feed or not run off at the smallest setback.  In skilled games it hurts a lot to have an unknown run off when the game is still winnable.  A lot of times they don't even say anything before they quit.  Generally I don't like it when they kick people that have been waiting longer than a couple of minutes in the game.

Also, how are you gonna' increase the number of people you can trust and count on for good games if you kick new players for one of your friends?  Never know, they might remember your name and never decide to play with you again.  Then who's outta' luck when they're itching for a game and no one they know is online?

It's not like there's no chance at all for you to play even with the most skilled and elite (in a sense of "exclusive") company online. I'm pretty new to online gaming myself (only started playing after entrenchment came out) and still got to know a lot of people pretty fast. You play with people they know or meet there smurfs -> you're "in". Look at it from their point of view. Let's say you're in a 5v5 match, which will likely last about 1-2 hours. The enemy team consists of a clan (for the sake of realism let's say it's DT) whereas you are one of the 4 BiA ingame. The 5th in your team is completely unknown to you and has typical beginner-stats (1-3 or the like). Suddenly a friend of yours comes online, whom you know and can rely on. Wouldn't you want him to be in instead of that unknown but most likely unskilled and therefore misplaced stranger?

Furthermore it's by far not like all games look for the most experienced players. Hell, I've even been kicked out of a game for not being "noob" enough. So just keep on playing and most likely you'll soon be one of those afraid that there ally will leave and ask for a friend of yours to join ^_^

I'll say it again.

I was the 3rd person to join the game.  I waited around for 20 or more minutes.  Once we had filled 10 spots, then they kick me, having just waisting my time.

Had they told the truth imediately and said, "Sorry, but we don't trust you, please leave."  I would have left.  Then they could have sat around for a couple hours waiting for people they trusted, while I was playing in another game, and everyone would be happy.

Maybe I should join one of the popular clans (you know who you are), so I can have the same privalege.  "Hey, I know there is only one spot left, but will you please kick a couple people so we can all play together."

There are only 2 active clans so everyone knows who you are talking about.  I'm sorry you had this experience.  Some aren't as polite or thoughtful as to say anything before they kick you admittedly.  I also admit that were you in DT or [_] then its highly likely you would be one they would clear a spot for.  If they knew you decently well then it is also likely they would clear a spot for you.  That's just how things stand at present and there are plenty of games out there otherwise to get into if it does happen.  It's just an unfortunate side effect of having a small multiplayer community.

Most likely they didn't know they'd kick you. First priority is always to fill up the game. 2nd priority would be the quality of the players ingame. Probably another game ended after the 20min you waited and suddenly there was an abundance of players available, thus enabling them to choose according to the 2nd priority. And let's be honest: pretty much everyone would do the same.

It's not about making the community grow.  It's about making the games more enjoyable for those of us that play regularly by playing with people we know/are friends with.  Its more fun playing with people that you are more familiar with than some random stranger.

Buttons, I think your grievance is very legitimate.  I really do hope that your post will go some way towards encouraging our fellow online Sinners to try to improve their etiquette.

I'd gladly improve my etiquette as soon as experience stops being that people noone knows go around flaming/leaving/ruining games ^_^

Buttons, I agree that waiting 20 mins sucks and I acknowledge that whoever did it was rude.  However, you always have the option of hosting your own game.

You take a chance when joining someone else's game, and if the person has a decent sized friends list, expect to be booted if one of them come on.

Suggestions

1) Try to get known - people with low game counts or low completion ratio (i.e. 20 games, 2 wins, 2 losses) will often be booted as they are either an unknown quantity (could be a newb or could be JJ/Tyr smurfing...) or are a quitter (or at least crash a lot!!!)

2) Ask for a larger game if it isn't 5v5 and they want to replace you

Some people don't like booting, some will. It's the internet. it sucks but it happens. Host your own games if you want. That way you can't be booted.

BTW - I am not aware of any clans that are recruiting at the moment that are also fairly active (i.e. DT or BIA). And if they do, they generally want known people that they think are good. So again you are back to making a name for yourself...

I dont see a way round the problem the OP has tbh...

Really anyone who is skilled has a good reputation and does not quit unless they "call a loss" (acceptance of defeat).

So why take a risk with a stranger...

Then again , How can u ask this stranger to leave because your friends might never come so in the end you might need him to fill in the numbers...

The way I see it it boils down to that common creed "Lifes unfair" .

It is unfair , but one way to make it less unfair is to learn and become skilled , play everyday and gain a good reputation. Then people will know you want you in their games.

Its funny but this is how communities grow. Noobs who strive to get better because theres reputation targets to reach. I remmeber I played TA for 5 years just to get into a good clan for reputation.

Regarding what P5yy said about making a name for yourself and gaining admission to clans...  The single player game has its "achievements" and the online mutliplayer has its achievements.

And then, some day, some day, you'll join a clan with Siddy, Gini, and Star Player, and realize that your achievement was to join the offensive KKK clan.
