Question on invasion

or "Good civilizations shalt not commit acts of heinous genocide"

I was just wondering if the invasion system in Galciv2 will be like in Galciv1, where you shuffle your populace onto a transport and then send it to an enemy system. Once it gets there the two populations duke it out until only one remains, which essentially means you commit genocide every time you invade. Not a very good thing if you're aiming to be a good civilization.

Invasions work on the same concept as gc1 but with animation. Dunno how that effects good civs, presumably you arent supposed to invade too much.

You destroy the planets army and then you are liberating a people from evil tyranny, not genocide.

Yeah, but if you consider the entire planets people to be their army, then when you destroy the army you're effectively wiping out their entire population. Unless you meant that we were liberating them from the evil tyranny of the mortal coil.

Invading is more of an evil civ thing, and using culture and other peaceful methods is the good civ method. Although i think good civs can still use invasion to a certain extent, correct me if i am wrong.

Well, you are not wiping entirely the population if some people joined you when using the information warfare

Just ask the Altarians. Good civilzations are completely justified in invading evil scum like the Drengin.

At least they've never had any hesitation in doing it in any game of GC I've ever played.

Thats kinda dissapointing. I thought the invasion and population of planets would have improved and become more complex in gc2

Well it has improved, it feels much more substantial than it did in GC1. Also you are now reuired to research invasion tactics rather than just starting with them. The dev's havent had time to look into re-developing that aspect of the game much but also want to avoid diverting the focus of the game from running an empire to tactical maneouvering. As with space combat, you the emperor of your civilisation, are the ruler not a general.

Sure, good civilizations can wipe out bad ones. Remember the lines in the film "True Lies" ... when Arnold's wife finds out he is really a spy, she asks him in a plaintive voice "Have you *killed* people??!!" "Yes," he replies, "but they were all bad."
