SP2 Users!!!

SP2 Users. RC2 v2149 has been out for a few days, got to installing it and the toolbar icons are now working. This appears to be an excellent build, no problems as of yet. I was very pleased to see the toolbar icons working though.

Yes the most recent SP2 build has resolved the problem with it and WBs toolbar icon support.

It also addressed the problems with Symantec Antivirus Corp. Edition 9.0 not working. From what I've seen with RC1 and now RC2 in our test lab, I'll be deploying it to my enterprise upon release. They aren't kidding when they say this is the most significant SP ever.

BTW, I've read and re-read wat SP2 does, and I just can't bring myself to download it. I just don't see it as being worth it. I have a router acting as a firewall, my anti-virus always up to date, I already use a popup blocker... So, can anybody tell me how SP2 would be beneficial?  I just don't see it being worth the risk od ending up with things not working on my system anymore...

I too was not interested in the firewall features (though you should run a software firewall on top of the router in my opinion, which I do), but the biggest advantage is all the other updates in one package. And they have changed some things about memory execution that cannot be fixed with a normal patch through a download. This alone plugs many holes in the opearting system. It is all around an attempt to make windows a lot more secure, with the added feature of firewall. Probably because so many people to this day still don't run them, they are just trying to cover themselves by providing it.

Does SP2 contain all updates between sp1 and sp2? or will I have to redownload the updates if I did a clean install in the future?

11 minutes on a T1? geesh..... I think I'll wait. This will be a forever download on my 28.8 connection.

Yeah I know, there are so many since SP1. I think microsoft really outdone themselves this time. No wonder it has been taking so long.

I love it...The computer runs much faster now. Now I don't need ZoneAlarm Pro running in the bg...As far as toolbar icons working. I never had that problem with SP1.

Adblocker...pft...I never use them things..never know what you might miss..hehe

...Only problem with SP2 to my knowledge, is when trying to download a wallpaper the default manager shuts down IE, but WinZip picks up where default left off.
....if anyone can figure out how to shut the default down...please email me to let me know how...Thanks

Took over 9 hours to download and install, but I now have SP2. So far, I see no major difference.

Sir MiNDTRiPP I would say either reinstall your download manager or install a different one. In SP2 the new IE is a little more aware, or at least to the user, about downloads. I use ReGet and it works great. You may search google for someone that has had that problem, and maybe a fix. I had done that on the first release of SP2 for a couple issues and that resolved them. So far I have had no issues with this release.
