Zippo

Beware the Zippo.exe file in the Suites section. Windows XP thinks it's a DOS program. When executed it resulted in an error (it made my printer churn out page after blank page), and worst of all it then refused to be deleted, even after a reboot and even in safe mode. and if you think the fault must lie in my system, well perhaps, but check out the file size. It's given as 10Mb, which it isn't.

Did not have that issue with it and I downloaded it from here. Worked just like it should. The file name is ZippoXP_desktop020204.exe that I downloaded

File name is ZippoXP.exe

32 bit windows executable....10,170,155 bytes....seems you have a problem.

I'd suggest a virus scan...

Judging from the ZippoXP Comments, I'm not the only one that's had problems.

Essencay, when did you download your file ?

ZippoXP.exe

Jafo is right, wonder if it was updated 'cause in the version I downloaded the Symetrix skin didn't work and I had to download it separately.

Hmmm, I have ZippoXP_desktop020204.exe too. Works fine

Also, why is file size given as "10170155bytes" and not "10Mb" or "10170k" as I'd normally expect ?

Essencay, you downloaded Friday. I suspect the file may have been altered since.

You can try downloading it from Pixtudio...see which version they have
Reply #11 Top
IF Pixtudio uploaded a new, corrupted, version then perhaps they've the same version on their own site without realising. Safest to leave it until this is sorted out. The downloaded file on my HD is about 2.4k in size btw.

Just downloaded ZippoXP.exe and that works fine too. The file isn't corrupt. You may have other issues...

1024 bytes= 1 kilobyte
1024 kilobytes= 1 megabyte

10170155 bytes= 9.69 MB

I am redownloading the file from here...it'll take a bit since I'm on dial-up, but so far I'm at 1.34 MB of 9.69 MB with no issues

Did you download from the "suites" section ? Check out Sloegin's statement in the ZippoXP comment. He seems to have had exactly the same problem. Strange.....

I am downloading from the suites section.

Yes, downloaded from the Suites section.

Hmmm, wonder if it's the server? Do you have a subscription? Subscribers are on a different server, maybe one is working ok and one isn't...
Well that's damned odd. I just downloaded again and got a perfect file. If it weren't for Sloegin's comment I'd have to conclude it was just one of those things.

I didn't know that. I didn't login for first download but did for the 2nd. Could that be the difference ??
Could be... There was a database problem yesterday, maybe it's not fully functional yet.
It's not that. I just remembered, the first download was done via Wincustomize Browser, the 2nd (good) one via IE 6. But I just tried the Win browser again and it worked this time. Sigh.......

All's well that ends well.

Downloaded zippoXP.zip @ 9,932kb with no problem except I couldn't find where they hid the wallpaper. Downloaded that seperately.

That was your problem, you didn't get all of it. That happens sometimes. That's why it's best to check the file size that is given and compare it with the size of the file you downloaded.

Jafo is right, wonder if it was updated 'cause in the version I downloaded the Symetrix skin didn't work and I had to download it separately.

See Jafo, the sysmetrix doesn't work properly in the Winstyles theme download. So, it was a relevant comment. It didn't work properly for me either. But, I figured out what was wrong.

Still, its a great theme.

Sysmetrix skin didn't work properly for me either. I ended up downloading it from Zippo's site.

Chas...no, you placed the comment about the non-working sysmetrix on the sysmetrix page which DOES work, confusing people.

Maybe the one included in the Full package didn't work but then that is where the comment 'should' have been placed...in the relevant location....

Well, it was a sysmetrix error. So, I posted it on the sysmetrix page. How was I suppose to know that the sysmetrix in the full package didn't work right and the sysmetrix in the single download, did work right? My idea was to give this information to the artist. Making it seem like I was unduly trying to criticize the artist didn't help, and it didn't make me look very nice. I like Pixtudio themes very much, I was only trying to give them information.
