I have a Flat Panel on my windows computer. I just turn it off and leave the computer running all the time. About the only time I reboot is when I install something new that requires it. Or, once in a while just because it's windows.
Wish it would become as stable as UNIX. My UNIX box has been up for over a year without the need to reboot. At least the recent versions of windows are improving in that area.

Nope...don't sleep next to it...but I do leave it on....uptime can be considerable, but dependent on system mods, etc...

Current uptime is just on 5 days....[I had some house electrics worked on]...

Well if we happen to see a screen shot of a new baby tower with a mustache, headset and tattoo we know he ain't sleeping!!

well, XP has little issues with Athlons.. along the lines of it falling asleep into..well, a coma.. also when it DOES come up from a sleep/hibernation, silly plug and play devices will stop working. so i just leave this machine on and turn the monitor off.. (and every now and then i check my fan speeds to make sure they arn't about to die out on me suddenly!)..

my laptop, i hibernate.

I turn off my monitor and leave the computer running every night... I only reboot when I install something new or want to start anew. I'm not really fussed about uptime but I really hate rebooting. Like Rocky Admin, I also wish WinXP was as stable as Unix. Imagine seeing an uptime of over a year on an XP machine...

I leave my 'puter on, but lock it, so my pesky brother or his friends don't bother it...I also turn the monitors off...

The only time I reboot is when I install/uninstall a proggy that requires it, or when I've been working with huge images in PS and my ram is toast...

For those that leaves it on, doesn't the fan sound annoy you?

Mine doesn't make that much noise. My desk is an Oak Roll Top computer desk. The CPU sits inside the the desk behind a door. It has ventilation slots to keep it cool. I leave the door part way open most of the time. Some PC's make more noise than others. My son has a PC with a CPU fan and several other fans in it. It is a gaming machine. It sounds like a jet engine, so he turns it off at night, since it is in his bedroom.

nah. but then again, i recently vacated a situation where i slept in the same room as my computer.

my machine purrs.. which is pretty darn suprising, its built like a tank.. very simple, metal, and has 4 fans.

now what i DO hear is an additional 3 fans in one of my drive bays.. a harddrive cooler that is on its last leg.. it starts to chatter sometimes.. so i kick it.
