Start 11 V2 Program Icons

Start 11 V1 - Uninstall? Icon still comes back

I installed Start 11 V2 while Start 11 V1 was still installed thinking it would uninstall V1. It did, sort of......... When i had the Start 11 V2 interface opened and went to the Taskbar settings, it said another program was managing this feature. I then uninstalled Start 11 in the Control Panel. That uninstalled V1 and V2.

I installed Start 11 V2 and it carried over the settings i did not removed when I uninstalled Start 11 V1. It works fine and has full control of all program settings to include the taskbar. However, the Start 11 V1 icon reappeared and its what you must click on to open the program. The Start 11V2 icon (when clicked on) does nothing. Clicking on the Start 11 V1 icon opens the V2 interface.

Was there a proper way to transition from V1 to V2 with Start 11 that I missed? Or is this a normal behavior that the Start 11 V2 icon is not supposed to be functional, the Start 11 V1 icon is to be used.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, which icons are you referring? Screenshot might help us understand and see if it also happening on our site. Also need to know your full Windows 10/11 version number please. Use Winver.exe.

Thanks

I have windows 11 Pro Release Preview (Current). Basically when you uninstall start 11. Then install the Start 11 V2 you get two icons. One for V2 and on for the original start 11. Only the original Start 11 icon opens the program. The Start 11 V2 icon does not function

The problem I'm having is that no matter what setting I change, It does not change my start menu at all. Does it still work with Win 10?

Yes it does.

I would uninstall, reboot and then install as it sounds like something has not worked with the install.

I reinstalled through OD, seems to be working now. Although the 'Mica effect' doesn't seem to do anything. What is is supposed to do?

Hello,

I have edited the subject of the thread to include what indeed it about.

I have also logged the issue internally to have it looked at.

Internal ref: ODNT-7369

Thank you for the feedback.

It replaces acrylic blur with mica.

Basically blur shows what is under the menu, mica shows a blurred wallpaper instead.

Hey, I had the same question about Start11 icon on the start menu; I had done an uninstall > reboot > install of v-2 and I had two icons, the Start11 v-2 icon did not do anything (I should have looked at the icon' properties to see what the path it was pointing to). However the original icon opened Start11, so I deleted the non-working icon B)  . Also Mica does not   seem to do anything when it is enabled . . .

In that case, it doesn't work, I just get the solid colour when I emable it.

Are you using dark mode ?

It is considerably more obvious with light mode especially with the newer menu styles.

light mode. The transparency level only changes the saturation of the colour, doesn;t make it more or less transparent. transparency works fine without the mica effect so I'll just keep using that.

Thats normal.  Mica blends against the wallpaper not whats under the window.

No, I mean it's not working, there is no wallpaper image being blended, only the colour of the start menu.

Switch to light mode taskbar.

Can you see it now?

Also try with one of the new styles as they are more faded by default.

No difference other than the colour is light rather than dark. All themes do exactly the same thing.

I have two ideas

1. It's windows 10

2. My gfx card is old (GTX 960)
