Is it just my monitor?

I have a MultiSync LCD1700v display at 1280x1024.

The logoff buttons and the shutdown dialog buttons are very dirty at any resolution. When I test a skin on my older network machine(as well as my mothers machine) at any resolution they look perfectly clean

Most all of the skins I use (including my own)are displayed this way.

For example: I have been a long time lover of treetogs skins(who isn't). Every one of his skins(including many other artists skins) display incorrectly on my machine including things such as: Logoff buttons, Shutdown buttons, The StartPanelUserPane is completely out of alignment, stuff like that. On my old network machine they are perfect...weird.

I know there are many limitations still in WB but does anyone know what can be done?

Thanks for your help

Hey guys...I'm sure this has come up before but I can't seem to find any info.

Anybody have a link to another thread? Anything? I really want to resolve this if it's even possible.

sounds like a native resolution thing, but your using the native res (1280x1024) - maybe check the cleartype settings ?

Well this just sucks...I guess as long as the skin looks like s**t on my main machine it should be perfect for the end user

I thought this was a WB issue. Am I the only user with dirty logoff and shutdown buttons?

Never had that reported to support.

What video card/drivers are you using?  It's more likely video card related than montior related.

Zodiaq~, sounds like it is ur video card that's causing the problem. If u have any other monitors around, try plugging that in to your computer. If its no better, try installing a new driver for your video card.

It's probably something about your hard drive. It just might be the color setting you have for your comp as well.

go open the display properties, click on the Settings tab, and on the color menu, set the color to the highest (most of the time, True Color 32 bit) if its something like 16 color, or 256 color, try changing it. because if i change my computer's color to 16 color, nearly the same thing happens (except that I have Win2k now)

Question: What video card do you have? (mebe that might give us more infos so we can help)

Hopefully my suggestions helped

Actually I am using an ATI AIW 8500dv with the latest Catalyst drivers.

The card Rocks!!! Scored just over 10,000 3dmark 2001se

My display is set at 1280x1024 at 32bit.

The strange thing is: If I change the shutdown dialog buttons to 96 ppi insted of 72 ppi it will display perfectly on my main display. The reverse is true on my network machine.

I really want my skins to be seen properly for the end user. This is too wierd.

Where do I updload a screenshot so when you click my username you can see what I am talking about...maybe that would help?

I'll use the new nvidia skin as an example.

All skins display this way!!! Not just this Nvidia one.

Ok...click on my user name and look at the example.

For starters, check out the StartPanelUserPane.

Look at the distortion of the logoff and shutdown dialog buttons.

This is making me insaaaaane!!!

for what it's worth...I get the same thing in other proggies that have nothing to do with WB and I use a CRT monitor. It drove crazy too, but I finally gave up trying to find a work around. I assume if the font can be changed then the problem could be addressed, but no luck here

I just got a new monitor and was playing around with various resolutions. There were a couple that looked really odd, as if they were too tall and skinny. I didn't poke around at those settings, but if any program is based on some kind of standard screen ratios (make sense?) it might look very odd at these distorted resolutions, like things being out of place (like your start panels)

Monitors have a "Video Level" setting that can screw with colors, contrast. But it sounds like the shadowed effect that my IBM t-22 laptop gets when the shut down / log off menu (pop up) is displayed. It is like looking at it with a polarized filter in front of it.

OMG!!! You guys...I just hooked up my CRT monitor from my network machine and still the same issue.

I finally discovered the problem...I had my text settings at 120dpi instead of the default 96dpi. Works perfect now
