... I just got a new job... selling cell phones... I usually don't ask people because they just sit there... and no matter what number you say they are like um... no..

The greatest cell phone number would be 115 1337

I didn't know you had a choice... they just seemed to give you one.

7 is T.... I've been told for a long long time that 7 is a T....

hence why a lot of people use the expression 1337. I've written T using the number 7 numerous times whenever taking notes.

Please explain a little more. I'm curious. Is it like a inside joke for programmers or something? Something very old?

I don't know where it orginated from, but it's a very commonly used word while I was hanging out in #skinnerz on irc, some of whom I still interact with here on the board.

Leet, I'm assuming, is a word associated with geeks... a different version of being "cool." So when someone calls someone else "leet"... I am assuming it is the geek word for "cool."

leet also sounds like the end part of elite, written in l33t/1337 language

Well, apparently a lot of people think 7 is and upside-down L... and a lot of people think 7 is T... whichever way, there'll never be a real answer.

I don't believe in having to turn a number upside down to justify its letter. Mirroring it isn't such a large problem though. 1 = I/L, 3=E, 4=A, 5=S, 7=T, 0=O
