[0.981][balance] Hit points reduction

Let me just say I have taken a liking to Wraiths. The undeadiness has appealed to me from day one.

I'm sure there are a lot of threads about how hit points were overpowered in previous versions, that I haven't read, but I do know that starting as a Wraith sovereign (and Amarian, I guess) has become very hard.

Most mobs I encounter near my first city are able to two-shot me. If I have the misfortune to also meet a Wraith (or Amarian, again) as my first champion, I am in serious want of someone to absorb some blows.

Like I mentioned, I'm not sure what the arguments for reducing hit points are, so I may have missed the grand scheme here, but it's a really hard start for some races.

I don't know why they reduced HP on sovereigns either, except it was an attempt to get them in-line end-game.

It would help if you said what difficulty you were playing at, I find ridiculous way harder now for example.

Also I think the wraith blood, and the amarrian blood is more like a weakness, especially now, which is really annoying. Since some of the other faction abilities are like benefits.

If you are suggestion more HP at level 1, but same amount of HP gained each level up, then please state that, as I could see this as a beneficial boost (+5 hp at lvl 1, will not do a world of difference later, but would help especially a lot of new players get into the game).

The change to hitpoints effectively made it so both resoln and amarrian races gain only ½ of the hp per levelup of the normal races, this really sets a big difference between resoln heroes and yithril heroes.

Personally I feel the factions aren't balanced now, but hoped Derek knew... ^_^

Like I said, and you said, I have no idea what the reasoning behind the HP reduction is. I found the hit points fairly balanced in the previous builds, so I guess I'm suggesting going back to the previous HP calculation.

It was not balanced earlier, only by heroes.

The problem is the game uses the same calculations for heroes and trained units, although I kind of agree less hp than before was good for the game, I think heroes, especially amarrian and wraith gets way too few hp per level now. (My level 10 sovereign in my game have 25 max hp... <_< )

The reason it was reduced (as I saw it anyways) was because trained units gained huge amounts of hp by levelling up. they would practically gain +50% hp from level 1 to level 2 in the old system.

Hope this clarifies, and if I don't sound like it, imagine I speak in a friendly voice (Its waaay late at night ;)).

The problem with nerfing something is that something else may be buffed in a manner that wasn't intended: If most units lose a third of their hit points, but some lose half of their hit points, and damage done is unchanged, there are bound to be some changes in the balance.

I think people will see the formerly mighty empires or Resoln and Pariden meet an early demise after the patch.

You always speak in a friendly voice, Kongdej, and thank you for that.
