Reforming fleet bug, lack of information bug.

Ships will constantly reform fleet if there are no hostile ships / facilities in orbit. If the facilities that are left are things such as trade ports, mining colonies and research labs, Vasari ships will completely ignore them and reform on the titan. The titan on the other hand will attack and destroy until they're all gone. Everyone else just sits back and hovers behind the titan EVEN if physically told - go kill this. I had two trade hubs in orbit around an enemy planet, my fleet reformed behind the titan. I hit the hotkey for my first fleet and said - Go kill this. They moved toward the first hub then stopped and reformed fleet. I did this three other time before I finally just moved them into weapons range at which time they finally engaged. I have engagement range set to gravity well at this time, so not sure what to do to solve this.

When you research Dark Fleet in the Loyalist Empire tree, it shows you what you can summon, but it doesn't tell you how much they cost. I looked on the Phase Stabilizer itself and all it shows me is that I can summon a Dark Combat Fleet, Dark Support Fleet and Dark Capitol Ship. It does not tell me how much the Combat and Support fleets are, but it tells me how much a Capitol ship is.

Ok, update to this... it seems to be all Vasari forces. It actually seems like their engagement range is WAY low even if it's set to gravity well. I just jumped into a gravity well and sniped the starbase located there, meanwhile the enemy fleet (who were also Vasari loyalist) just kinda sat around the planet and watched me do it. They didn't move to engage until I was much, much closer.

Another bug it would seem is that the phase gate my titan puts down doesn't even function. I've got reinforcements pouring out of my base right now, but they jump to a closer phase stabilizer then jump to another gravity well, then to my fleet. It doesn't direct link from one phase gate to the one my titan puts down.

Wait, I can jump Dark fleet ships into it, but not any ships previously built.... is this how it's supposed to work or is it supposed to function as a normal beacon?

just to be clear, are your forces in an actual fleet (fleet leader gets the fleet icon, adds a new section to the empire tree)? a selection group (you press a number key to select several ships at once)? both? or neither (maybe just box selected them)?

I see you played with the engagement range. Did you make sure autoattack was turned on? does this only occur under certain conditions (ie, only when a titan is present or something)?

All my ships that took part in this battle were in a fleet, all of those ships were manually bound to a control group. All those ships were selected during this engagement.

I am not sure if the titan is a modifying factor in this, I will try it in the next engagement without the Titan. Auto-attack was on, and was set to (all auto-attacking)

I will explain the engagement below.

(Note: This is played on EASY AI at the moment. I always play every AI when I play on 5 star maps, and I progress up through the AI as I win one map after another. It's how I test the AI to see if they do smarter things on one setting then they do on another and to see when they stop doing idiotic things.)

My fleet consisted of the following ships:

1 Vorastra Class Titan - Level 2

1 Kortul Class Devastator - Level 4

1 Jarrasul Class Evacuator - Level 4

1 Skirantra Class Carrier - Level 4

1 Vulkoras Class Desolator - Level 4

3 Lasurak Transporter

12 Skarovas Enforcer

9 Serevun Overseer

20 Ravastra Skirmisher

11 Junsurak Sentinel

19 Kanrak Assailant

2 Stilakus Subverter

15 Tosurak Corvette
(Various Strikecraft)

Enemy Fleet consisted of 1 Titan and other ships, I didn't get a good count but I do know he had a titan (loyalist)

My fleet engaged from the left side of the map when they dropped out of phase. The enemy fleet consisting of a Titan and multiple other craft were on the opposite side of the planet itself, hugging up against it. I immediately was engaged by a non-upgraded Starbase which should have aggro'd the rest of his fleet, it didn't. The only thing that engaged my fleet was his strike craft which came from all over the gravity well to do so. The interesting part of this was the strike craft attached to his fleet itself engaged but the ships did not, they stayed back. At first I thought this was an AI thing in which maybe the AI didn't engage because they wanted me to come to them while the strike craft weakened me. My titan and Junsurak immediately began dealing with strike craft all around me while I slaughtered the starbase. I then let the AI do it's own thing.... which I saw was ignore the enemy fleet (which was quite sizeable) around the planet and engage everything else. I literally had to tell my fleet to move to engage (not attack move, but move towards them) for either of the fleets to notice each other. Prior to this I had a small engagement where I fought some of his cruisers and frigates in another gravity well. Even when I used the command for my ships to move up and attack they didn't.

My ships started to move forward to engage the building but then for some reason all fell back to (Reforming fleet). This has happened a lot and I am starting to wonder if the engagement range for the Vasari loyalists is messed up somehow.

It's kinda hard to tell what's going on with this bug but I think it's one of two things.

1. (And this sounds reasonable) The Titan is the cause of this, but I can't put a finger on what exactly it's doing. It's either (A) Lowering the engagement range of the ships around it to such a low level that the ships don't notice each other or

(B) The Titan forces the fleet to constantly reform and thus not engage at all.

I don't think (B) is what is happening, because if that were the case the enemy fleet would have been moving around, instead they were stationary.

2. The fleet is constantly reforming and thus not engaging at all. This in turn causes them to constantly shuffle around and not attack. I do notice this happening A LOT with my fleet when in an enemy gravity well, the AI seems to think it needs to reform fleet instead of engage enemy structures.

Another interesting bug with Dark Fleet. It seems, that when you summon ships from the Dark Fleet then they are free. All you need at this time is 7k resources, 3k metal and 3k crystal. Then you can hit all three buttons and get a capitol ship and a varied amount of smaller ships. The ships cost nothing but fleet supply and they do NOT take away from your resources when they come in.  I tested this on all my Phase Stabilizers (even the one summoned by the titan that's free as well) and none of them share the same cooldown. So in essence you can put a crap ton of these things down in a gravity well in some random area and... instant fleet. Again, this COULD be working as intended but that seems a bit overpowered to me if it is. With this I could just throw away an entire fleet (except my titan, who can simply phase jump away if the shit hits the fan) and jump back to a -home area- of phase stabs. Then summon in my full capacity of fleet size and whamo, instant fleet max again. Mind you they would all be level 1 capitols but that's nothing a little upgrading won't fix.

Edit 1: Ok small edit, it seems capitol ships DO eat up resources, but not smaller support ships. The only thing they eat up is fleet supply. On a side note, this could be because the icon that you press to summon them in has no value noted, BUT if that's the case why would I need to have a certain resource amount before I can summon them?

Ok quick fix for the reform fleet (don't engage) bug. If you flip the engagement range on the fleet that has the titan all the way back through everything then to gravity well again, they will attack as normal but you have to do this every time you add a new ship to your fleet. If you don't do this when adding new ships they continue to huddle behind the titan unless things get up close enough for you to engage.

Edit 2: Nope, nevermind, this doesn't work either.

Try setting Fleet Cohesion to All Loose, this would cause the rest of the fleet to engage enemies in a wider area around the fleet leader.
