Using Vue 8 for environmental tiles

I would like to do something about the actual look and feel of the world environment...perhaps something more realistic.  While reseaching options, I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge of Vue 8 http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_8_t_pack/?tpack=fantasy and if that program could be used to create the necessary graphics (texture maps, etc) for import into the game.  The exporter http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_8_modules/?page=exporter would be needed of course but has anyone considered this?  I am considering purchasing the software for other purposes but the thought occured to me that this may be a fun tool for Elemental modding.

Looking at the features I'm confused as to what it actually is - it looks more like a rendering suite than a real modeling program that doesn't offer anything free alternatives do (if you have time).

Photoshop (or it's free variant, Gimp) can handle all the textures you'll need, while 3dmax/Maya (blender for the free variant) will do the modeling.

Unless you can edit shaders, you aren't going to manage a much more realistic look in elemental.  In short : don't waste your money on the program.

As I said, I may use it for some print projects I am working on (part time graphic artist but not 3d modeler here).  It was just a thought.

As an aside I have a copy of Hexagon but not sure of it will export to the correct file format.  I will have to look at it since it has been awhile since I used it.

Wow....just checked those links. If I saw Elemental look like that I think I'd crap all over myself from the shock of awesomeness.

Yeah, me too.  If I end up getting this (with export) I will have to play with it.  I may be asking you for modding help though Raven! :)
