Buggy Filters Under Desktop Tab in Impulse

I set up the filters under the Desktop Tab in Impulse to divide up the applications into their various categories.  Under the Object Desktop category, I find Windowblinds, Skinstudio, Icon Packager, SoundPackager, Deskscapes, and ThemeManager missing.  Also, under the My Colors category, the free Themes do not show up.

How did you set up the filters?  Filters will be getting an update in upcoming versions of Impulse, so there may be some known issues floating around.

The filter categories are hard coded, so there was reallly nothing to do but select from among a precreated list of items.  I created a tab for each of the possible categoreis of desktop enhancement software.  But the list of software I mentioned did not apppear in any of the categories, though it's clear that they should have been listed under the Object Desktop category.  I am happy to hear there will be an update on that feature.

Ahh, I see what you're referring to now.  I tried the same here and all my Object Desktop apps show under the category filter.  Perhaps try resetting the Impulse data, as I believe this is what the filters are using.

From within Impulse:

-Click the Impulse Logo in the upper left
-Choose 'Preferences...'
-Click the 'Reset Data' button
-Close impulse and relaunch it. You may notice a long update time, which is normal as it is rebuilding the deleted info.

Thanks.  I'll give that a try!

Edit:  I gave it a try, and I am immmensely pleased to find all of my Object Desktop items listed properly!

That only solved half the prolbem however.  I would have thought that I would find all of my My Colors themes listed under the "My Colors" category, but besides those listed there, I also find one each listed under "No Category" (Think Green), "Holiday" (Halloween) and "Inspired" (Encpounter).  Curiously, one theme (Quest) dissapeared entirely, though the registsration number still appears under "Register a product" and in the My Colors application itself.  Currently I don't have enough My Colors themes to really make it worthwhile dividing them into these further categories.

I take it that each item can only be "tagged" with just one category?  Does your development team have any plans to add additional category tags on the My Colors themes, so I can see all of them listed under  "My Colors"?

I think it means that we get more categories, or we get a new filter system (needed).

Oh, and as for the MyColors themes... They are "sorted" in different categories, I hope that will be fixed with the mentioned update.

mickeko,

Sorry if I got your dander up.  I left out some important information that you likely couldn't have known about but that Shirley surely would have (pun intended) ;-)  On or around March 27th, Stardock released two Impulse updates.  I'm not positive what changes they made, but I didn't remember seeing the extra categories for the My Colors themes, so I assumed that those changes composed the "upcoming versions of Impulse" Shirley referred to.  Now that I think back on it, they may have been there all along.  It was those updates that prompted my questions about Stardock's plans for future updates.  Now you can have a laugh at my expense {grin}.

I was just trying to help. Reading back I may have sounded a bit harsh... Sorry about that.

Nah, I'm a firm believer of the accuracy of the following quote by Scott Adams:

"Everyone is an idiot, not just the people with low SAT scores. The only differences among us is that we're idiots about different things at different times. No matter how smart you are, you spend much of your day being an idiot."

:D

The changes will come with the larger Impulse update in the next few weeks.  Trust me, you'll know it when you see it.

I feel cheated though... Removing something is rather different from something getting changed. :P

Yeah, sorry for the confusion.  When I saw the sorting options in the early builds of Impulse Phase 3,  I had assumed the filters would work with them.  I'll bring it up with the devs and see if they can revive them.
