Do I need to have Impulse?

I have WB, IP and OD, all purchased from SD, and I would like to know if I really need Impulse?

Impulse is the future for digital downloading and it will take the place of Stradock Central.  It does a lot more than SDC, but you don't have to get rid of SDC just yet.  You can still use it to download updates for all non games software.  From what I understand all new games and updates are being done through Impulse.

If you haven't checked out Impulse yet download it.  If you don't like it you can alwaays uninstall it.

It isn't required to use those applications, but Impulse is the best way to get updates for them as soon as they are available.

It is required to get the updates, if this is the "future" I may never buy another starrdock game.

Why can't I go to a website and just download the patch??????

Every other non-MMO game works that way, "WORKS" being the operative word.

The impulse installer won't even run on my vista machine.

I didn't pay to be a beta tester for startdock, I bought a video game.

You didn't buy the patches though.  If you want them you'll use Impulse.

Using Impulse to get updates is an incentive to purchase the game; that's one reason.

If you like please let me know what errors you might be having with Impulse and I would be glad to help.

Also if you are running any security applications please make certain that they have Impulse in an approved/allowed setting. This can sometimes cause troubles.
