Volume slider help.

Hi, i would like to create a volume bar (slider) for an mp3 widget. I tried checking one that has a volume bar in desktopx, but i am still not quite sure how to accomplish this. If anyone can help or tell me where to find a tutorial, it would be appreciated.

thanks

Have you seen the Wincustomize Wiki found here.  http://wiki.wincustomize.com/wiki/Main_Page  Lot's of useful stuff here.  Notice the tutorials link on the left.  There's lot's of desktopX tutorials.  By working with DesktopX and trying various things you'll learn how to do a volume slider.

well, I finally found it... you create a new object, add the dxplayer in the general tab (additional abilities), then use the configure tab, go to fader/slider options and choose Vol(sli). This is where you add your images (background and volume button). In the Dx configuration window, on the bottom there is a Images tab. Tried it and it works. There might be another way also but this is what i found so far. My problem was i was always adding my volume bar before as a new object.

Just wanted to explain this in case someone else like me wants to know how it is done.

Well it's been awhile but, the last time I did anything with that is I downloaded a DX theme that had one and looked at how is what put together. Have you any theme or widgets that use slider to see how it's done?

I also looked at a theme I built with volume and balance sliders and it sounds from your reply number 3 that you've got the right idea.  Each element in a DX player widget is a separate object.  The vol slider is one object but, it consists of 2 images the backgound and the slider.

When you are configuring your slider properties DX builder will darken the image of whatever you're working on.  When you close the properties panel for the active object  just click anywhere on a blank area of the desktop and that should remove the focus on the object and cause it to appear normal.

I haven't had any problems with any black contour.  If what I described above doesn't clear this up then I'm thinking there might be an image problem of some sort.  I use png files for both the slider backgound image and the slider image and they look perfect on my machine.

I know what you mean about clicking somewhere on a blank area... but it still had a black contour. I also use png files. I did some playing around and the only thing i noticed is that if my image of the slider isn't cropped completely as to not show any transparent background in paintshop, then it will have some dark contour when chosen in Dx. I opened a player I downloaded and ungrouped all the objects and I saw the black contour on the persons slider. You don't notice it because it is placed on a black part of his background player image. There surely is some way to make the slider better, but for now it will do. I'll keep trying.

I know it's been awhile since you have posted but this will help you (if you haven't already found a solution). To begin with volume sliders are made up of two different graphics. slider background and slider button. This is the way I do it.. I make a line the length that my volume control is going to be which will be the center of the volume button. Then I decide where I am going to place the slider on my DXplayer. then I cut a section out the height and length of the slider background from my graphic and place into a new image. Place your slider button into a new image. Then you import them in as a slider through your DXplayer properties. Place them on your player using your top and side settings in the slider summery tab. this way it will blend into your DXplayer background. The other option is to use magic pink for any invisible areas, that will get rid of the black area's on your graphics. This works for both volume slider and faders

This is how I do it. Sometimes I have trouble with the magic pink.
