[Suggestion] Asteroids with Choice

Hello,

I'm new to Sins, I wasn't in the beta and just purchased the download copy the other day. One thing that irritates me a bit is being forced into Metal Mining or Crystal Mining based on the Asteroids surrounding a planet.

Early game it can be quite frustrating having to go to the black market to buy crystals for almost anything you want to do.

While I see merit in Asteroids that are only suitable for one type of mining, I think it would give the player more strategic choice if there were "Hybrid" asteroids where you could mine for crystal OR metal, your choice as a player.

That would make the point of crystal mute. It's there as de facto limiting agent for almost anything higher tech. And it serves that purpose well! Very often even thou I control whole solar system, I put max refineries on all ice worlds and im sitll low on crystal :)

That always happens to me as well, usually for the first few hours or so of a game I'm only limited by crystal.

The restriction does make the game more interesting though. It also makes ice planets much more valuable (they have all crystal asteroids).

Would defeat the entire Sins economy. Might as well eliminate the differences in planets, thus eliminating a major portion of the economic strategy in Sins.

In other words...no.

Sometimes I'm scarce on metal and rolling in crystal. Just depends on whether I get ice worlds or volcanic.

It makes each game different.

However, I think the mod tools will make it possible to change the asteroid/planet-type distribution so you can have more interchangeable resources if that would be more fun for you.

It could be a rare / special asteroid that occurs very infrequently in the game.

It just feels odd being forced to buy Crystal from the black market for the first 1hr of the game.
