What is defined as a "ship"?

(....In regards to the fleet cap)

All right. So we know the fleet cap (for the 1.0 version) has been set to around 300 ships (at least for now).

What actually constitues a ship, though? Do fighters and bombers count as ships? Or is a "ship" referring to just the frigates, crusiers, and capital ships?

Oh, and what about orbital defenses? Are they "ships", or do they not count because they take up a logistics slot on planets?

The fleet cap only restricts frigates, cruisers and capital ships.

It is research based, up to a high number of fleet points -- current guess is 2000 for some reason, which gives 300 ships.
