60-90 is fine for a small galaxy, tho poll does show 45-90. I'm surprised you didn't vote for 30-45 min or less though, that's the impression I got from your various posts moaning about the pace of the game.

Depends on what they mean by medium map. I played a long game last night which lasted 3hours and 45min, and i believe that was a medium, so i voted 2-3hours

As in, Random - Medium.

Which is why Im afraid of players voting right now... Because mostly online it looks like people play small maps and its taking 2-3 hours... which is too long! But the poll says medium and they are thinking small.

Medium IMO should take 2-3 its just so many planets!

For medium, 2-3 hours. For that size map, 45 or even 90 minutes isn't the game I want to play. Would be OK for small.

I think people may be overlooking that game duration will depend a lot on how well opponents are matched.. if you have two evenly matched, skilled, players your game is likely to last considerably longer than in a mis-match - and you would enjoy every minute of it!

*hug* I am not looking for CnC in space! More like COH in Space , where strategy and skill are needed (most of the time)... And in truth I'd be happy with 90-120 min, but it wasn't an option. Anything over 2 hrs, and then we'd have to start talking about pausing the game, and resuming at another time...

I votet for 45-90 min BUT only because <3 hours isnt a possible vote type.
I think a MediumMap should be at least take one hour but not more than 3 hours(normaly).
A large Map should take >3.

Dont think that i didnt like long fights, even on a small map i like long fights with 3 hours and more BUT the normal player hasent enough time for those long fights...
Take a look at WC3, on small maps youll fight only 30min or less....

90-120 min is what I'd wanted to vote my self, given the option.
If the poll had been more elaborate, say something like 15-30 (however unrealistic), 30-45, 45-90, 90-120, 120-180, 180+ it'd possibly given a more precise estimation of what the beta testers are interested in.

No, thats an obvious "duh". But if you look at it, the rate resources are gathered and ships are moved mean that even an unbalanced game can take over an hour on a small map, just because it takes that long for me to get the economy in place to crush my weaker opponent.

I say the shorter the better.

Why is there no poll for single player?

because this is a multiplayer beta

If a medium Galaxy of 20-30 planets (with how many different stars?) takes less than an 2-3 hours... Then I dont want to hear anymore hoopla about this being a 4X hybrid ... that will put the game clearly into RTS... and even for an RTS that would be really fast for the scale of a medium game.

I think people are over-reacting to the lag issue and the 'twitch' issue in MP. In Single Player the speed isn't half as big a deal simply because there is no lag.
