My citizens are around 65% approval and Ive tried to lower taxes before going to war but didnt help.
I want to go to war with tbe humans who only have a few measely planets left and will be an easy victory.

You have to lower them about 10 turns before you ask for the vote. And drop them until you have about 80% approval. Then you should able to get a vote for your naked aggression. Ur, I mean justified peacekeeping in a lawless region.

Lesson learned. Dont lose elections. Not only can you not initiate war, but you lose all the bonuses of your political party.

Im assuming you have lost an election, because I have never not been able to initiate a war at 65 % approval, unless my party is out of power. If you have lost an election, you may need to wait til the next one to put your party back in power.

If not though, there are always ways to goad someone into attacking you...try lowering your relations with them by repeatedly demanding they surrender all their planets to you. They also dont like it when you start building military and influence starbases right next to their worlds. Blockading their worlds with military ships might get them a little irritated as well.

The last time I had this problem it was a close vote, like 52 to 48 against. So I kept trying to attack until the vote went my way. Cheesy? Yep. But I wanted that PQ21 Carinoid (sp?) planet REAL bad. If the vote is a bigger difference, I don't know what to tell you. Raise your approval to over 70% and try again.

Good luck.

Aarggh I did lose an election. I dont remember that happening. Very inconvenient. Demanding a Surrender is not one of the options. I keep asking for all their planets but only once works, the same for money. The relations dont continue to drop.

If everyone is happy at the time of election under the party that is not mine, will I be able to regain the election?
I guess all I can do is plop an influence base right on top of them, see how they like that.

is the Re-education building only buildable on one planet? I have a planet in the middle of a different civ and they are ready to defect, I built the re-ed on a different planet. I was given these planets when the Iconians surrendered to me to spite another Civ

Can you get them to declare war on you? Try building cultural starbases beside their planets and surrounding their planets with warships.

One way you can go to war and get your citizens on your side is to raise your energy prices. Wait a few turns, then start leaking information about that particular enemy having weapons of mass destruction. After a few more turns, your citizens will be begging you to declare war on that race. Just make sure that when the dust clears, you "find" some weapons of mass destruction. Even if you have to plant it there, just make sure you "find" some.

Or you can just declare martial law and change government back to the one where you start with.. Not sure if this is possible, but it should be.

Sometimes democracy sucks. Especially when The People say no to unprovoke genocide.

LoL. And when you fail to plant them make up some bogus alternative reasons for going to war

And then, when the rest of the galaxy accuses you of prosecuting the war all by yourself, you can say "You forgot the Paulos!"
