Messageboard Rules

I found this set of rules on a Sierra Forum website. This may have saved UzEE and it may help others if such rules are displayed on the home page to those using the messageboard and commenting on skins. Just a suggestion, so please don't flame me. When someone posted something inappropiate these rules were displayed below their posting as a warning.

When posting comments, you must follow these rules:
1.No "Yay I got First Post!" posts, no exceptions and no matter what other content the post has!
2.No Pornographic Material. Any sexually oriented imagery or links to such content will not be tolerated.
3.No Warez or Illegal Software. This includes linking to software, posting about it, and suggesting to get it.
4.No Cursing or Swear words. We encourage you to use our comment sections as a forum to debate files, news, etc., but please use proper adjectives to express yourself. We will not tolerate abuse upon another member or author.
5.No Attacks / Retaliation of any kind against a member, or group of members.
6.Maximum of 1 smilie per guest, and 3 smilies per regular member.
The high interactivity of this site should be considered a luxury, not a right. If you cannot follow these simple rules, you can and will be banned from the comments, site or entire network for any period of time.
Now enjoy yourself and behave!

I'd also add to that
7. No idiotically stupid and inane posts.

A few folk here could be benefitting from that one over the last few weeks....

1 through 5 should be common sense on any messageboard. (but, we all know that common sense really isn't that common)  We warn people if they do any of those once, if they do it again, then that's when it is a problem.  Number 6 doesn't apply.

Hippy I resemble that remark.

Karmagirl,
Of course number 6 doesn't apply. If it did we would all be banned probably.

I just copied them from another board. But, I didn't want to slightly change them and then claim that I wrote them. That would be ripping someone elses work. lol.

I think we could really use a copy with something like 2-5 posted around here. Obviously, a lot of children come here who don't know how to behave, and adults who act like children. And maybe when someone does break a rule the members can warn them of the broken rules instead of a continue flaming session which doesn't set a good example for the children.

Just a thought, but I think this bashing, flaming, slamming, and other insults is uneccessary and getting out of control. It's immature and doesn't set a good example.

Chas...the problem is that people don't read rules, and even if/when they do they believe they don't apply to THEM, or that they are 'above' them...

The majority of 'personal attack' for example is by established members perpetrated against the naive and the ignorant.

IF people took the time to think or read before commenting, there, for example, would be fewer 'help' threads...

The problem with 'RTFM' is that even its 'title' has to be read....

Your comment explains exactly why we should post some. Ever heard that ignorance of the law isn't a excuse? If the rules are posted and they are too ignorant to read them, that isn't a excuse.

If the majority of personal attacks come from established members that explains exactly why we should have set rules for behavior. It is clearly getting out of control because there are no rules. Does Anarchy sound like a good word to explain it?

Oh well, just a suggestion.
