Game and Metaverse scoring

How the heck does it work?

I've never understood how the game comes up with your final score, except for the general feeling that the higher your military attack, research output, influence, production output, and income, the higher your score, and that playing on higher difficulty levels should also raise your score.

Version 4.0 made a huge change to the scoring, where I'm now getting scores of 4 to 5 million where before my highest score was in the range of 1500.

But then I happened to look in the Metaverse, where I see someone with a single game that scored over 2.1 billion, in a tiny galaxy and Beginner difficulty.

Can someone explain how the scoring works?  I don't really care about the Metaverse ladders, it just makes me really wonder what is going on.

My scores have always been in the 10 to 30 range.  I finished a game Monday, and my score was amazing.  I had to look at it several times to be sure I was really seeing what I seemed to be seeing.  My score was 1,006,650.

I thought I had done something special until I saw this post.  Now I realize that my new score really isn't all that great.  I did some checking and found that my recent score is 49,153 times my average score before this game.

I would also like to know why the scoring has increased so much.

Looks like they went the way of the old pinball machines.  Bigger scores look better, even if they mean the exact same thing.  I don't really see the point.

Hi,

I don't like the new scoring system either. It makes comparison with previous games impossible and after you've seen one seven figure number - mine normally start with 3 rather than 4 or 5 since I eventually abort the ending by building the Ascension Gate   - then the difference is less striking to the human eye than the difference between two or three figure numbers.

I suspect that eliminating opponents counts for a lot because  I've had huge (for me 150+) numbers of planets at the end and with the ancient trait totally ridiculous amounts of research (nearly 175k before the Ascension Gate) and the score still hasn't been noticeably higher than otherwise.

Cheers,

Jon
