Activation limit reached

I want to activate Fences on my new PC, but I get the message that the activation limit has been reached.

Can you reset the activations? Or can I see on which PC's Fences is activated, so I can disable activations on computers I no longer use?

So after 5 years of running Stardock on 3 computers under one license (which has always seemed to be okay backed up my screenshot), you change the activation servers and kill off all of mine? Wow.

Hundreds of recommendations as an IT professional for you product over Classic Shell... all for naught.

Guess I'll be making the switch to CS myself.

The example you posted is from the corp site:

https://store.stardock.com/corporatepricing

Also, the highlighted portion is taken out of context.  I am more than happy to address any issues you are having but accurate representations need to be provided.

I will fix yours, Vandike - just give it an hour or so and try again.

For some context, we changed some things on how activation counts are logged - not how many you are allowed.  Some of the legacy SKUs, 'Fences 2 Upgrade' in your case Vandike, was not done correctly.

My point is, this is not a sinister act as one is suggesting here - rather - just the nature of having a lot of things to consider when changing something and not hitting them all.  Totally our fault for missing them, and we are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience - but again, its has no roots in trying to put one over on the clients we have a track record of valuing so much.

That said, looking forward to reading what your issue is, iker42, and want to know that I did indeed resolve yours vandike.

Sorry for the trouble.

No, in fact it feels like you clearly are trying to pull on over on your clients. You've lost this customer and I suspect many more. The abrupt change was not clearly communicated nor warranted. You already charge for a product that competitors do better for free. Good luck with your business ventures when other people decide to bail.

After I had explained what happened, that this was an update error and not a policy change, what has you with that opinion still?  To restate,  NO changes have been made to the quantity of activations you are allowed- they are the same as they have always been.

So how many activations are allowed? I am on Start10 and am also suddenly getting the activation limit reached.

Per the current EULA, and for the 'retail' products (not the corp products), 5:

https://www.stardock.com/support/software-eula

Looking at the activation data for your email account that you have Start10 under, I dont show you hitting a limit.  Are you still getting an error now - today?

I will have to try again. I had deactivated all but one.

Sorry for my harsh tone earlier.

Looks like we are back to limiting activations. Please advise.

That would appear to be your Fence 4 purchase - which you purchased the single activation license for.

There is a 5 activation option:

This is a Fences 4 upgrade from Fences 3 that I have been using on 3 devices since July of 2019. Installed on a new laptop this week and it killed the other two installations.

"Will this new 1 to 1 activation enforcement affect other products I have already purchased?

No, it will not.  If you purchase Fences 3 or 4 (or any other product at the time of this writing), it will still have the activation count it had when you purchased it."

Again, not sure why I lost my ability to activate up to 5 machines per the license EULA at time of purchase.

From what I understand, it said "enforcement" mean and, I do notice that for a long time, Stardock has put the EULA for one activation per license long time ago. Just that they did not enforce it. Now, they enforce it, I believe Stardock has all the right to do so. Just my observation, but to be sure, you should wait for Support to reply your inquiries.

Your Fences 3 product still has 5 activations.  When you received upgraded pricing to go from Fences 3 to Fences 4, the activation count of Fences 3 is not replicated.  When you purchased Fences 4, it had 1 concurrent activation allowed.  A 5 pack is available to you should you need more activations.

I see that yesterday you were able to activate your MIS3 PC.

I upgraded 3 to 4 and there was no change in concurrent activations for over a year. Why did that change this week?

Upgrading from a 5 activation product (Fences 3) does not grant 5 to the product you are upgrading to (Fences 4).  To avoid confusion, clients are directed to a choice page so they can decide what is best for them.  This is that page:

https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/download

The 'Upgrade' option in the 1st panel is for the 1 concurrent activation:

The 2nd panel does not have 'Upgrade' pricing as it is already heavily discounted.

Hope that clears it up and sorry for the confusion.

Fences 3 worked multi activate for a year and the upgrade from 3 to 4 has been since December. My license shows multi-device. There is no confusion on my end. I've paid for the product as needed along the way (original purchase and upgrade) and you continue to break old agreements.

I've had three devices on each of my licenses for years now. I'd like to continue using it as I purchased.

That actually reads wrong and needs to be fixed (I put a bug report on it).  What is correct is the image you posted earlier:

Also, the upgrade price you paid back in December,$7.99, was for the single activation.

iker42, I have no issue tossing you an extra activation (and have); I just wanted to be clear that you were not being deceived or that something was broken.

Your Fences 4 key now has two concurrent activations.
