Repeatedly asked to 'Update Product Key' after already registering Fences 3

I've purchased, installed and registered Fences 3.0 'over the top' of an existing installation of Fences 2 on a Windows 10 x64 VirtualBox guest VM.

If I right-click the desktop, select Configure Fences > About, it reports that Fences version 3.0 is installed, but none of the new features of Fences 3.0 appear to be working (i.e., roll-up doesn't work, and the fence background is not blurred in spite of the 'Translucent Fence backgrounds' checkbox being checked).

Furthermore, whenever I restart the VM, or restart Explorer, or double-click a fence in a failed attempt to try to roll-up a fence I see this dialog

Could this be because I have already installed and registered Fences 3.0 on the machine hosting the VM? i.e., does Fences 3.0's licensing model mean that I can only install Fences 3.0 on one machine at once? I think the licensing model for Fences 2.0 was a lot more generous, allowing installation on 'a few' machines simultaneously.

If these issues are to do with a new licensing model for Fences 3.0 could you please explain how the new licensing model works?

Many thanks!

Fences allows for five installs.

What happens if you select the Deactivate Local Machine and then re-register with your Fences 3 key?

I selected 'Deactivate Local Machine' > 'Deactivate' and got the message "Success! Your license has been deactivated", then I successfully re-activated using my new Fences 3.0 product key but it was still behaving as Fences 2.0 (no blurring of fence backgrounds, no roll-up, etc.) And when I double-clicked a fence the same dialog appeared prompting me to "Update Product Key" or "Deactivate Local Machine".

At that point I gave up and de-installed both versions of Fences (i.e., 2.0 and 3.0), rebooted, installed and activated version 3.0. Now all is good - fence backgrounds are blurred, fence roll-up works and I'm no longer repeatedly prompted to update my product key.

However - the issue I reported earlier (displaced folder icon for folder portals) is also affecting this installation too. See this screenshot. Maybe this is something to do with the Fences label font size I am using - 9pt Segoe UI italic. If I increase the size to 14pt the folder icon is better placed in relation to the fence label text, but this displacement didn't affect Fences version 2.0.

I'll update the other ticket with these findings.

I am glad the reinstall fixed the activation issue.  We'll look at the font issue too.

I got this issue after rebooting. Seriously disappointed.

I see you deactivated and reactivated.  Are you good now?
