[eWIP] Dogs of War v0.9

Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war!

[edit] v0.9a up -- now Stormworld Compatible.

This mod is a work in progress.  It adds the sovereign and champion level-up ability "Kennel Master".

At the start of each battle, Kennel masters auto-summon a pair of war dogs at half their level. My intent is to make these fairly weak damage-wise, but with specialized maul and bash abilities (both auto) that you can use to drag down an enemy for a turn.

I figure I'll release this as a multi-instance mod, so folks can choose how they are included in the game.  My ideas so-far are:

  • Special combat auto-summon (current version)
  • Strategic summon (the below pic)
  • City-based production, consuming wargs, maybe with a special tech and building.

 

If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.


Current leveling likeliness is (common?) so your hired champs can give them a try.

These fellas would be perfect as a world resource recruit center, like we can recruit Dragons, Wildings, Darklings and those guys. You find an old world resource that is an established kennel where they've breeded war dogs for hundreds of years. For some influence and gildar they'll rebuild their facilities and provide you with dogs every now and then.

 

If you wish to make it Stormworld compatible, add

      <UnitStat_BG_IsMonster>1</UnitStat_BG_IsMonster>
      <UnitStat_BG_IsBeast>1</UnitStat_BG_IsBeast>

to the first level milestone. It will not cause issues if someone uses the mod without stormworld.

cool mod, but please change the name of the trait: Kennel Master is already used by the Additional Faction Traits Mod :)

All units that aren't humanoid are monsters in Stormworld.

OT: did you take a look at the heroes mod? seems like that one would also need unitstat tags for the new heroes

I'd go with "Dogs of War" but that's already in the addfactiontraits mod also :D
 
I'll come up with something eventually... what about "Wolf Companion" ?

Well, I wanted to distinguish these guys from wolves, since there are already so many of them in the game.

it seems wardogs act funny in tactical combat: sometimes maul doesn't work, sometimes enemies get counterattacks they shouldn't be getting.
