[.85][Suggestion] We need build queues for buildings AND units as in WOM
IMHO there should be 2 build tracks as in WOM. One for units, and 1 for buildings.

Amen, especially since it seems like since .85 that all improvements take much longer to build. I keep having to clear my building improvements before the finish so I can build some troops.
Yeah, it dosent make sense to me that my massive city cant make units and buildings at the same time. Maybe when a city is small it would should be forced to do one or the other, but then you could have barracks/archery ranges/stables that need to be built in order to train those units at the same time as build stuff. It would also make city planning useful if you had to place your archery ranges next to barracks or something then you could get a time discount on training them.
It isn´t also realistic that a big city build one building after another or that you can´t train multiple troops at ones.
But its a game. ![]()
I think that the one queue is perfect. I have to choose between city improving or warmongering. Its sometimes a tough choice, but thats exactly what it should be.
Would it be sufficient to simply be able to insert units at the front of the queue without impacting the remaining time on the current project? I'm hesitant to suggest increasing the productive output of cities and it simply wouldn't do any good to have to split the current output between two queues.
To me, a single queue represents the fact that the town puts all its efforts into completing something. That makes perfect sense.
Its also something easy to balance as proven over the years by Civ.
Just make it possible to reorder the queue. Or at the very least, as malekith said, let us insert to the front of the build order
Guns vs butter. Don't take away the choice.
Having a single queue is critical to having a balanced game IMO. As Sarudak said it makes the user choose between building their economy or building their military. If you give the player two queues they will do both simultaneously which removes one of the main strategic choices in a good strategy game.
This would solve the problem. You can do this in Civ4. The game retains memory of how far you have constructed the unit or building, and resumes after you finish constructing the item inserted into the queue.
I think its important to be able to halt a building production while not taking away all those turns ...
being able to mix up the build order (as has been done by Civ et all) would be a good place to start.
Yes, I'd like that too.
That would work much better!
Allowing queue management within one production queue is the way to go.
