Something I have noticed

It's been a few years and I thought the problem would resolve itself yet it hasn't. The problem is that WC is still very slow and most times I can't even get the site to load. I'm on a brand new notebook on a 15 Mbps connection. This site takes ages to load in IE and Firefox. I'm not upset, just curious as to what's going on.

Anyone else having connection issues?

No connection issues. I had that problem with page loading too. What's so annoying is that its inconsistent. When that happens I hit the back button then the forward button and it loads in seconds. Otherwise I could wait as long as five minutes and I run FF5. I think it has something to do with page rendering.

I'm thinking it's because these forums are tied into other sites. vBulletin forum software would have been a better option.

It could be. Sometimes a page loads slowly if someone is posting at the same time. I've had that happen here and with so many members on different sites its entirely possible.

Using IE 9 and don't have that problem, but then that really means nothing, too many variables.

Check

add-ons

Ad-Block

No Script

I have gone through this from time to time. I disable everything and start turning them back on one at a time. Every time, it turned out to be an add-on.

Of course, I don't use them any more, because Yrag scolded me on the use of them and I would never do anything to merit such a scolding again. So I steer clear of ALL add-ons. Every last one. Honest.  Really and true.

What?!!?!

This says nothing to the "too many variables" problem. I use multiple browsers and have only flirted with a handful of Firefox add-ons (other than the ones they push via updates, and those don't fit my definition of add-on no matter what the UI says).

I mostly use Opera these days, and if simple infrastructure glitches aren't to blame for the occasional forum burp, it's more likely that I'm 'undermining my web experience' by using Opera's ability to block 'content' from third-party domains like Google analytics.

The sites are actually running pretty well.

Same here for me in spite of a decidedly crappy internet connection.

No problems here for quite a long time. You must have some other issues.

Don't have any add-ons. Nope. Not a one. Like I said...it isn't consistent. Thing is it doesn't happen on any other site.

It has to be something in your settings. I have avoided Google Chrome forever because it drrrraaaaggggeeedddd for me on everything. I finally got down into it and it's running faster than FF was for me. The only issue I still have with it is any page with a lot of videos.

Can't be my settings. this site is slow for me no matter what computer I use. Perhaps I'm expecting the site to be as fast responding as Facebook and that's the issue.

Stardock forums and sites are painfully slow compared to most places I've been.  It can get really irritating at times.

As some of us have indicated we are not having problems.  Just must be one of those things that makes folks wonder 'why me'.  :S

Yeah! Why you John?
